Got to spend a little time on the 306SA. Got it all back together but still have to refinish the bar and make up the chain for it.

I orderd some stuff from Baileys a couple weeks ago, specifically the .325 X 9 rim sproket for it. That was the only thing that was not in the box. They said they would send another but as of yet no dice. I was surpised to find one locally though.

Here it is, I'll be starting it up when I get the bar done for it. The paint is a week old and the decals have been clear coated for a week as well.

Looks nice mark. I can almost see the price of 306s rising on ebay!

DANG!!!!

That looks FANTASTIC Mark!

You can never know how good it makes me feel to see that saw looking like that!!!
Can't wait until you get the bar and chain on it!

And to think how close it came to never happening!LOL

Ok, I just figured this out myself the other day.

Can someone tell me why Poulan used a .325 x 9 sprocket on the 306SA?

Mike, your not allowed to get in on this one as I know you already know.

Could it be that make more then enough torque to pull that setup well? Chain speed w/o sacrificing torque.

Fantastic work Mark!

Waiting to hear why Poulan went with the .325/9 sprocket on the 306SA. Was it to make a 306SA with PS cut as fast as a 306A with 3/8"?:popcorn::popcorn:

very clean saw!

wow mark really nice clean saw!!! after getting my 25 sda from brad. and seeing how clean it was ive been on a mission for my saws that i dont use all the time. and thats to break them down,,, when i get them in and clean them "right"! takes awhile longer but its worth it! I thought i kept my saws pretty clean,,, LOL not compared to ya alls saws! i just got in 5 25das and got them pretty clean using compressed air and wd 40 i tried purple degresser on one and even 50% water it was hard on the paint!!! no more degresser for the painted parts!i think i will just use dish soap and hot water and compressed air!!!!on painted parts anyways.... any how thats a real sharp looking!saw MARK!

Mark
Nice work as always. The 306 looks very good and the decals stand out. I do not think the 306 ever got the credit it deserved. Thank you for the nice pics. I see you even laid a blanket down on the bench for this one.

Excellent work on the 306SA Mark:bowdown:
If anyone wants to see what these older Poulans looked like when new, they don't need to look any further than your fine restorations.

Most of us just hope to find a half decent, running representative of some of these old saws. But, you take it the extra mile with a total resto.

Heck, The History channel ought to come to your shop and do a documentary
of your work on preserving American History! I would buy the the DVD, thats for sure.

Whatever the reason, this was a secondary consideration.

Just a Wild A-- Guess here, but was it so people wouldn't put standard 3/8 chain on that wouldn't work with the Power Sharp?
I honestly don't have a clue...LOL:msp_blushing:
