Clay,

(I won't give your drivel additional exposure by quoting it, just wanted you to know the post I'm referring to!)

Mark is one of the most respected members of this site.
He is a walking encyclopedia of information that we is willing and eager to share.
He is one of the best saw mechanics most of us have ever seen and he will bend over backward to help those in need.

You, on the other hand, have done little since stumbling in here except buzz around like a housefly annoying people and "whine and complain" because your saw was hard to find parts for and we wouldn't send you what we had on hand.

Mark and I (as well as a lot of others here) consider Rodney a good friend and were HIGHLY offended when you unjustly attacked him in an open forum for having a life beyond dealing with you.

When an outsider (you) attempts to join an established group there is always a period of "sizing up" that the newbie has to undergo. A period of "show us what you are about" if you will.
You didn't fare too well in that department around here, and you aren't helping yourself any by attempting to chastise one of the core members of the group.

You wouldn't be the first member here to overcome "starting out on the wrong foot" but respect is something you have to earn, and you don't do that by;

Complaining about parts availability on a 30 year old saw.
Whining because you can't find what you need.
Crying because people who don't know you, won't share their hard earned parts supply.
Not taking advantage of the hints and tips others provide you.
Attacking proven members for not working around YOUR schedule.
Claiming to know where the Holy Grail is, but not producing it or producing evidence of it.
Interjecting "iffy at best" advice.
or
Chastising our valued members.

If you really want to be a part of this group, drop the attitude of self importance and start working to earn the respect of the group instead of demanding it and crying because you don't get it.

oh man ty so much! At your leisure, if you could take a couple high resolutinon head on pics of both covers I would really appreciate it, I need to have some made or make some decals for my project saw. If they're too big to post, pm me and I'll give you my email addy. If I can make these work, your set is on me.

I really like the black on green. Nice looking saw!

The D007 mount is a Pioneer mount. It's mount is basically the same as the D096 mount and has a 3/8's slot.

The main difference is in the drive link count that the bar uses. Notice the guy now list that it takes 110 drive links where the others use 105. My bar also was not the one pictured and arrived with a aftermarket sprocket tip on it.

Thats what got me honked off and the seller didnt want to admit that the bar was listed wrong. After Paypal and ebay making him take the bar back and refund my payment I see he has now deciede to list the bar correctly in the auction.

That bar (D007) is correct for the Pioneer/Poulan pros like the 655 etc.

Brad the D009 large Husky mount is virtually the same as the D176 Poulan/Echo mount except the slot is 9mm instead of the 5/16" slot.

You just need a stud spacer of some type and be aware that a 32" 105 DL bar when mounted on the Poulan or Echo may like 104DL of chain.

Thanks for the info Mark! I've had my eye on the 28" Homelite branded Oregon bars he's been listing as D196's for quite a while. The price is decent (although his shipping costs suck), but I think I'll take my business elsewhere if he's that much of an asshat...

I think that the American pickers program has made things crazy. I went to an estate sale and an old delco parts used here service shop sign went for over $300.....it was nothing special in my book, but hey what do I know...the lady that bought it was on the phone talking to the guy she was buying it for as the bidding went crazy.:msp_scared:

Those guys are dorks. I'd never thought about the timing of the increase in old sign costs and that damn show. I think you're right. I watch the show to get an eyefull of the cool stuff those idiots pass up.

Seen SEVERAL IHC trucks, IHC/Farmall tractors, parts for them, and old chainsaws. Mike actualy moved a 2-man saw bar (with stinger handle) out of the way to get to some piece of crap. Probably seen a dozen cool old chainsaws, plus many bars, chains, and NOS parts boxes on shelves that they've walked by to get to a crappy old lamp, plastic bath toy, or something else stupid.:dizzy:

This is absolutely amazing to me!!

VINTAGE POULAN CHAINSAW SALES AND SERVICE STEEL SIGN - eBay (item 140533624450 end time Apr-16-11 14:15:28 PDT)

Would one of you good people let me in on what I'm missing here???

I saw this on its first day and thought "That would be nice to have in my shop" so I put it in my watch list.
I figured if I could get it cheap enough it would be cool to have.............................................:msp_ohmy:

Mike

Thanks for showing that sign. I saved a picture of it and if I ever get around to it, I have a local sign painter that could probably duplicate it without any problems.

It will probably cost about the same though.

wow, thank for the heads up on that bar. I just ordered one.
If it fits on my 8500 I can put the 24" bar off my 8500 on my 4200 If it doesn't fit my 8500 I can use it on my Dolmar 7900 that came with a stubby little 20" bar on it. :)

You will have to file the slot just abit for it to fit the 3/8s studs on the 8500 but it will bolt right on the 7900.

Thanks Longbar

I wanted to give a big thanks to Longbar, he hooked me up with a recoil housing for my 3700. I got busy and detailed the saw, new fuel lines, carb kit, duckbill, new filter, cleaned up the rails, lowered rakers, new plug, and sharpened the chain. The manual oiler is working and I hope the auto oiler is in order. The compression is at 155. I'm going to take it out tommorow and put a few tanks through it.
Thanks Kevin

I agree on Mikes words. I don't put my two cents in here very often but after I read a few of that kids posts I go and hug my son. Oh, and Poulan rules!

71-A with a new bar and chain.

Got the bar and chain finished up on the 71-A. Its GTG ready now!

I have to thank Jermey for hooking me up with a .058 .404 chain to fit this roller nosed bar that is a .058 gauge.

Believe it or not the chain looks new and was the perfect 71DL that was needed for this.

I did put a .404 x 8 sproket on it for a little more chain speed and I think the ole 71-A will take it and run with it.

The original 30" Poulan hardnose bar is put up for safe keeping now.

That looks pretty sweet, Mark. If it runs 1/2 as good as it looks, I hope all mine run that well next time I start them.

Thanks Mark, a muffler mod is on the short list. I'm going to mod another one and do a field test comparison. What's the part # of that deflector you guys use? I'm going to try that route this time. I was just noticing that bar looks a little to small. I've got a nice 22 or 24" I'm going to throw on there instead. Back to the shop.

Nice looking saw, I bet your ears will be bleeding!

That thing looks sweet! Glad you got it going!
