hi ya all! ok so i finally got a poulan 2375 wild thing this thing is like new.... guy said it sat for at least a year... anyways the carb seemed really clean in side everything looks like new so i cleaned it slapped it all back together it seems like its flooding fires but then dies its a zama carb. says 2004 on the tag so on that zama its like 2 full turns out on both for a starting point is that correct???what do you guys set yours at?most i set at 1 turn but zama says 2 full turns??? any of ya all can help i would appreciate a starting point. thanks paul.

Edit/ so i think he rebuilt that carb as everything was clean and new guy was a race car driver.. anyways it seemed like the line to the tank was new so i switched the lins and it fired right up gag that sucker smaked it was super flooded all i really need is the carb settings for the high i will fiddle with the low the low seems better i adjusted it in some til it reved smooth and idled ok would like to know the high setting on a poulan 2375 thanks.

is that what you set the high at? i swear it smells like diesel fuel i changed the fuel and the fuel filter first thing

I went back out towards 2 so I knew it wasn't too lean but it wouldn't even think about running at 2 and 2

thanks

Also, I think the Zama carbs are a little sensitive to the inlet needle setting. They have to be pretty close or they'll either flood or not run on top end.

it seems like it !

yea they sure seem like it im starting to like the old walbro carbs more and more LOL! i have the L at right about1 and1/4 it seems to accelerate and run decent there ive got the high at about 1 and 7/8s it seems like 1and 1/2 would be optimum but till i hear from some one or get the srvs manual on it i will leave it there i will post pics soon. i really think the guy had diesel in it its now starting to not smoke and stank as bad! my wife looked at me and was like whats that smell??? you always stank like gas but thats awful maybe even keroseen im not sure i know it reeked and so do i from when it first fired up and coverd me in a cloud!!!

I've got a 4018wt Wildthing and the carb settings have me at a loss. Zama carb. Won't take full throttle and is a b $&@# to start. Maybe I may have to oPen needles mOre than I am. Maybe 2 on the lowill Work

I hear that!

yea ive been messing with it all after noon at this point im at 1-1/4 on the low and a 1 -5/8s on the high seems like it could be a lil more but i really dont want to kill it. i have to say mine does not fire as easy as i would like.... i let it cool down and it does not want to start easy. i adjusted the idle as high as i could without the chain moving and that sorta helps. i also opened up the muffler a lil to help it breath... .i swear if i go in a touch on that H it runs perfect but i hate to go in to far not knowing the factory settings...im curious how it will be to start after it sets for a day???? good luck to you and good luck to me! its a pretty saw for sure LOL! my girl wants a sport ute in those colors now hahah!

You might think about testing hi setting by making a cut and shutting saw off while at full throttle. If plug color is light to med brown ur not To lean.I I I

Mine has a slight MM, the screws are out almost three turns. Its not rocket science, just get over where the screws are and set the carb.

If you'd take the carburetor apart you would probably find the plunger (I called it an inlet needle before) lever not even with the body of the carburetor, probably too low, and not letting in enough fuel. If the lever is adjusted correctly you shouldn't have to turn the H and L screws out so far.

I did i took the carb completely apart and sprayed it out... the gaskets looked like they were brand new... i will probably rebuild it anyways the metering lever was a tad high i thought... i was tempted to bend it down its running pretty decent right now running a lil rich the high is at 1and a half zama says 2 but thats for the emission carbs im not sure this one is???? if its not its supposed to be 1 turn out and adjust from there ....thats why i was hoping someone could let me know what factory specs are but i opened up the exhaust already so its better if its rich... i may take it monday to my local shop and have them see how close i am after i redo everything on it... thankyou for trying to help me ..... its fun to mess with it... I have a really clean poulan 295 saw bein shipped to me right now.... i only bought the wildthing to indulge myself had some extra dough!!! I have a thing in the beg for manuals so hopefully some one has one and an ipl.... those are the best thing you can get i see somthing new everytime i reread one!!

I have found that to be true every where but with these. If it really bothers you, port it so you can stick a 60 or 70 cc carb on it, and then you may still be out more than a turn and a half. Mine are out that far (2.5-3 turns) and I have the Walboro. If the inlet needle is that far off, you could turn them out five turns or screw them all the way in, it still would either flood or starve.

I've had to set many, many of the wildthings and woodsharks, etc at 2 turns and more. They have more carb than they need so there's really not enough airflow thru the venturi to pull fuel as well as they should.

good read!

Before carburetor L and H needles had limit caps the standard pre-set on the L and H needles was one turn open. When we had to begin using limiter caps we also decreased the needle sensitivity in many cases. So while we still try to have a preset of 1 turn, many needles fall between one and two turns open. Another thing we have tried to do is increase the clearance between the needle and the seat to make sure less debris collects there. This is because with the limit caps on it becomes much more difficult to remove the needles for cleaning. So while the limit caps have made it more difficult to preset the carburetor and to remove the needles, they have also made it less likely that the needles will get far out of adjustment, or that they will even need to be removed for cleaning.

L and H needles:

On many of the new emissions carburetors we reduced the sensitivity of the H needle to make it easier to precisely set the carburetor mixture. The H needle on some carburetors is now the same thread size as the L needle. This can lead to confusion if you take both needles out and do not identify them. Just remember, THE L NEEDLE IS ALWAYS LONGER!

Service Parts

ok so mine had no limit tabs all i have to do is pull my needles and see if the low is longer then the H which all the new ones are if not then its one turn open and adjust from there! is that what ya all read in this??? thats why my saw seems to run more to optimum the closer i am to one open ....This is from zama !!!!I think that gives me what i need to know!
