Guys I'm looking for the bracket below the clutch cover on the 3400. The one on the 3400 that I have is broke and it makes the AV very sloppy. I posted that I was looking for this in the swapmeet forum but thought I may have a better chance of getting one over here with my POULAN friends.:)

Its finally finished! Turns out it was a bad condensor. Lesson learned, I know it was mentioned before but, just because you have spark grounding the plug doesnt mean you have it in the chamber. My tester confirmed that, after swapping coils and switches the condensor fixed it. This is why I keep spare parts and parts saws! This one got the works:
crank seals
base gasket delete, Moto seal.
all new gaskets
carb overhaul, fuel line filter, airfilter, cj8 plug
NOS rear CVA mounts
I opened up the ex. port a bit. This saw was in a saw grave yard believe it or not. Was in too good of shape to pass. So all said and done, 1-1/4 turns on the carb, .017 on the points and it started on the second pull. Just under 150psi. This saw is an animal. Also put on this cool windsor mini pro bar Ive had for a while. I got it of a toasted CVA25 a while back. Thanks for the help with this one too.
As I got it

You need one for a Mag or Plastic clutch cover. There different. I'm not sure I got either though...

I'm pretty sure the clutch cover is mag but would have to check, can't remember:confused2:. It's the older version 3400 with the adjustable oiler.

That 71-A is probably not as old as you think. 70-76 believe it or not.

Did you get a 306A yet? I might have one for you.

I beleive it. I have a Poulan product guide fro '82 or so that still listed many parts for that saw.
I have the Western Auto version of it, I gotta get a pic of that saw up. But, I might be interested in that 306.

Craftsman Micro

Here is a nice one I got today, check my "carma" post for the full story. This one can confirm a date for the red/black saws. The date written on the manual is 4-23-84. Its also a 38cc model. The grey one I got 2 days ago is dated '87 and has a MUCH smaller barrel carb and is 34cc.

Looking good Joe. That grey Micro looks just like what I used to work on at Sears in the early-mid '90s. A few grey 3.4/3.8 (3400/3800) saws came in. The red Micros came in far less frequently than the greys. Hardly ever saw red 2.1/2.3 (25DA/S25DA) or 3.4/3.7 (3400/3700 of course) saws come in. Tried to get a red 2.3CVA from the shop that was a customer non-pickup (broken carb box and handle from a nasy crunch), but the manager wouldn't cut it loose. The customer wasn't returning calls, and the saw had been in the shop for a few years. They probably ended up throwing it in the dumpster sometime after I left. That was a shame. I used to start it up and run it every once in a while. Still ran fine, despite the broken parts. The Sears cost for the broken parts was over $90 in 1994.....

I cannot recall a red 2300CVA but that dont mean anything. I had a 2300AV like the one Joe just picked up but let it go and wish I wouldnt have.

I have a good Poulan 2300CVA in the project bin and a 2300AV with a bad P/C. If I ever get time I'm going to strip the CVA for its P/C and make me a nice 2300AV for the collection.

I'll try but when I get busy working on them I forget to take the pictures. Pausing from working is only to drink the High Life.

After 17+ years, I may have butchered the model number. Wasn't talking about a 2300 (Micro type saw). I was refering to a red Craftsman version of an S25CVA (or whatever the counter vibe version of a Poulan S25DA is called).

Any idea what model we have here?
069.jpg

4200/4900, I think I can make out the 4 starting the number but that is all. I would almost give my left one for the bar by itself. Haven't seen many roller bars for Poulans around here.
