Joe thats all these mufflers really need is a slit on the side and it works just as good as the flashy exhaust pipe. I've been doing the slit more and more just because it's easy.

Yeah, i saw you and Mark had done them recently. The saw Im working on looks identical to the saw Mark had posted with that style muffler.

Picked this one up from a dealer today. Been sitting on his floor since January of 05. Needed coil (55 swap), clean up cylinder and the usual lines, carb kit. Best guess would be a straight gas after a couple tanks. Never had one of these and honestly know very little about em. Couple pics to add to the thread.

Boost Port!

Very nice shape!I like them saws!!

Here she is in hackberry. Chain is a bit aggressive :msp_tongue: Smooth running torque saw that's for sure.

The trip paid off boys. Got a real nice 3700, late model S25DA and a 2.8 craftsman.
The 3700 is in good shape, P/C look great, compression is right on too. Broken handle, but thats why I keep parts saws:msp_wink: Has the better intake on it (slotted) and The "professional use only sticker".
The Craftsman has a lightly score piston. Not sure of the damage but Ill probably be looking for a top end.
The S25 was a gamble. The Front handle bolts were loose and one missing also fuel cap gone, but thats all very minor. I was told it was locked up. But when I pulled it, I just didnt think that was the problem. When I got it home I pulled the recoil off and sure enough, I found one of the 5/16" lower handle bolts jammed between the coil and flywheel!
So now on the hunt for a top end for the 2.8
Also is a midway pic of my 3.4 craftsman. Cleaned up nice and will prob go as the bigger part of a 2 saw plan for my best friend. He already has his S25.

For some reason those saws are kinda rare around here. Maybe people are just hanging onto them when they get one. I only have one, a 3400, nice saw..

Boost Port!

Ha ha....I like that. If I call my PP405 decomp valve inlet, a boost port, will it run stronger?

I Have the PP455 as well, only a 20 inch bar but those things do chew through the ask, elm, ironwood, maple (and pine) and I see now hackberry VERY well... nice looking saw you have there mweba

Awesome torque!
I can't wait to compare the two after I get the new rings installed in the PP405. Not sure what 7cc less really will feel like.
Now I am looking for the PP655BP model like some have here on AS; sigh, no luck yet

Nice haul, Joe. Can't imagine dealing with snow this early. No thanks.

Yeah actually had to move the mower outta the way to get the snowblower out. On top of that my lilac tree collapst and unfortionately I had to cut it down. :msp_razz:

New too me Skilsaw countervibe on ebay, I've never seen a Poulan rebadged as a Skil, thought that was partners, frontier etc.

I got lucky a few months ago and picked up a 655, 525 and 405. They aren't in as good a shape as your 455 but all run very strong. 655 came with a 36in. bar but I have a 24 on it now. Great saws, a little heavy but still great.

Andyshine77 has a Skilsaw rebadged 3400 that his neighbors widow gave him.
It was in terrible shape covered with years of crud, but after he finally got the crud off the saw was danged near mint underneath!!!
