Here is a pic of Andre's Skilsaw (Poulan-3400) at the first Poulan GTG we had.

Gregg,

Wow looking at that I'd say mid 80s, I didn't know Poulan was still rebranding saws for Skil at that time. I just sold my Skil branded Micro.

just rebuilt the walbro carb on my 2150PR and finally got her to fire. forget about the 1-1/8 to 1-1/4 turn on the high and low settings. dang near yanked my arm out until i got it started, now setting somewhere around 2 - 3 turns. still haven't got it dialed in so don't have a definite turn count. think i'm still a little lean so still tweaking. main question is:
once i get the carb set i plan to mod the muff. wondering which way to turn the mixture screws to retune? richer or leaner? thanks, jerry

Carb is a Walbro HDB-8, same as for models 3400, 3700 & 3800.

I had some time over the weekend to look closer at the carb, it is indeed a Walbro HDB-8. I ordered a K10-HDB rebuild kit for it, does this kit cover the HDB-8 model?

Thanks

I asked over there but I will ask here also.

Are you referring to the lo speed metering screw, or the idle adjustment screw?
They are WAY different critters!

Mike

I am refering to the idle adjust screw. Both the high and low mixture screws are present.

Thanks

Not me but thanks for bringing it to my attention:dizzy:

I blew all my fun money on a homelite spree:bang:

Nice haul, Joe. Can't imagine dealing with snow this early. No thanks.

Well, going on day 3. No power. Had a foot of wet heavy snow that fully leaved trees just couldnt handle. We were at my parents house (where I am now) when we heard the first crash. Big old maple dropped a branch 18" diam across an 80 year old womans driveway. It was snowing hard at that point and me my Dad and BIL agreed we couldnt leave it there in case of emergency. We had the saws but used all the bar oil last weekend! I found some motor oil and put it in. We only made maybe 15-20 cuts enought to move the branch and then get out before one hit us. Made it home had to 4lo and lock up the rear diff on the truck to crawl over 2 trees. Got to the house and got a call from my mom saying one of the big oaks at my grandmothers house came down. Missed the house thankfully but crushed the carport my grandfather made 50 years ago. I was under it an hour before getting my snow blower out. Then we lost power. But I had plenty of wood and a 1000watt honda I was working on for a guy at work. Ran the blower on the stove, my drop light and a radio. The next day (sunday) I was on the phone with my Mom. I hear her scream and a big crash. Maple went thru the dining room window. We just took that window out and my dad re puttied at and painted it too. So I grabbed my Saw stuff, and y 3.7 and headed out. I had to cut one pine up to get on the main road. Finally got to home depot to get a sheet of plywood. The window is huge, 4'x5'. Got to my parents and me my dad and my uncle boarded it up.
Last night we had a bar-b-q, us and my neighbor and his family, I always have meat frozen and he had some too, ate real good! I have pics on my phone. Hopefully get power soon, my folks never lost it, but about 600,000 others here dont have power either.

Damn! Good on you for being there helping out Joe. I'm remembering why I live in Tennessee now. We had on serious snow in my lifetime. I almost froze my dumb ass to death in that one. Can you say unprepared?

I got a 245A on Craigslist today, gonna make a road trip tomorrow and pick up several saws. Thank goodness there ain't no snow on. :)

Hey Joe, like you, I am prepared for this kind of stuff. It happens. Wish I was closer. I'd load up the 4x4 and bring something for the pot-luck bbq. Where I live, we never heard of FEMA and they never heard of us. We just take care of it. That snow will melt, you will clean up the mess, and the grill will stay hot.:D

Hang in there Joe! Sucks to hear all that though.

Being in the midwest and close to Lake Michigan we get our share of bad winter as well sometimes and it pays to be prepared.

I got a shotgun, rifle and a 4 wheel drive.........

If you're eliminating some back pressure I would think you'd want to go a tad richer. If turning the screws out doesn't accomplish what you want you can always slightly raise the fuel inlet plunger lever, but don't overdo it or it'll flood.

To bad Hank couldn't add chainsaw to that list..............

Man Joe!!! Sounds like you got your hands full. My sister & her family live in western Conn. Last I heard, they still didn't have power yet either. In Dec. 2006 we had an ice storm around here. Didn't have power for a week. Had no generator, but had a couple kerosene heaters. A year later, we got 11,000 watt generator, and had a transfer panel wired into the house. Have only used it a couple times, for several hours since then. :dizzy:LOL But, at least somewhat prepared now.

Alright, who's bidding on the #%**!#^ NOS PP655BP????????? I want it but $1050.00??????

Kinda glad I don't have the money for that one... I'd be faced with the decision of whether to keep it NEW. or to run it.:dizzy: I'm afraid I would just run the thing. I couldn't resist.:msp_sneaky: Think I would take a few pics, then go stick it in a big Oak.
