Yep if the grease is sucking in then the seal is not sealing correctly.

As for the worm gear puller, I forgot that I think I did already get one and its in my special box.

Its a steel tube that screws onto the worm gear and it has a bolt threaded in the other end that pushes against the crank to pull the grear off without damaging it.

I found this link that has a updated Poulan tool list and it shows the 330 dose use the same puller.

Looks like the part # for the 400, 525 and 655 worm gear puller is diff. from the PP330, etc. Wonder if its because they have longer crankshafts. Other than that the worm gear itself looks similar.

I actually just bought that one for a 50 Rancher I'm working on and it is not correct for my application. It is way to small for the husky worm gear. It's plastic and around the size on a 1/2 deep well socket.

P/C should be worth that, plus you got other parts as well.

Measure the bore on that thing when you get it apart, it should be 46mm for a 330

Yeah it's already in pieces, cylinder ported and on another saw pumping 150#. 60cc has vertical finning on top, 54cc only horizontal, easily seen through air outlet on top cover.

So, your telling me there is such a thing as a type 3 PP330 and its 60cc?

First I have heard of such a thing. I'm pretty sure that since mine is a 07 and has to be one of the last produced and I should check it closer.

Hey guys; I'd like to add a little to the conversation and ask couple of questions. I recently acquired a parts saw (seems to have had a tree dropped on it) off Feebay, a 330 with a gilardoni jug that I figured somebody put on at some point. Once saw was in hand, I saw that it was factory assembled. Unmodded muffler, 2 shoe clutch and the Engine Ident sticker says disp. 60cc with -3 after the serial #. As for my questions, what tool or technique do you guys use to remove the oiler worm gear off the crankshaft? And has anyone removed/replaced the gas tank vent on this series of saws? When you do a complete tear down, you can really appreciate the build quality of this series. Me likey.

Does the tag have the year it was manufactured?
I have a 2001 330 that I made into 60cc, it was 54cc.
I will have to double check my 2007 model I got from TSC, I believe it is 54cc also.
Never knew they made a type 3.
Could you snap a close up pic of the tag?

It's an '04....Isn't that like the same time frame for the 3450 type 3's? I got 2 from tsc; $180&$165 in 2010 thanks too several members on this site discussing them. Both have now been converted to 60cc; 1 new kit and the used set. As for pics, got a wife with 2 digital cameras so it shouldn't be to big of a headache.....maybe.:rolleyes2:

Toy saws have been hot on the bay. A C-5 look alike with the box brought an astounding amount a couple weeks ago, way more than any C-5 I've seen lately.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I start watching this when it was under $25. Thought I could save the shipping, could drive & back there for half that and and 1 1/2 hrs. of my time.

That's actually pretty cool. More detail than what we usually see in the toy chainsaws. Can't immagine there are many left. Kids trash stuff like that. Looks more like an early XL-12 to me BTW. Thanks for putting that up. That went for crazy money....

I also like the blue/green (hard to tell in the pic) IHC Loadstar "tilt bed truck" above and behind it in the pic (go figure eh). Looks to be another Loadstar (white/red dump truck) under that one. I think I see a model of a gold demonstrator Farmall (C or H I'm guessing) to the left of it too.......:jester:

Toys are hot collectabiles, especially if they're in VG condition and have the original box in good condition (yes, I'm an Antiques Roadshow junkie). That Carter Homelite, if produced in small quantities, could bring some serious money in a couple of decades.

I'm still kicking myself :buttkick: for passing on a toy Rifleman (my favorite TV western!) rifle NIB that I found in an antique store.

Today, toys and collectables good money (including antique saws), two decades from now I *seriously* doubt it. The USA economy would have long collapsed to like ....Mexico or worse status. Lucky to stay/remain in "second world" status.

They could run 100% income tax and the numbers still don't add up. Economic disaster. Large scale universal collecting, with prices rising fast constantly, is only possible with huge amounts of disposable income, income denominated in digits that are worth a flip. The FRN is destined for the historical scrap heap of the flawed notion you can printing press your way to wealth, then try to keep borrowing against previously given IOUs, which is all they are doing now.

Just ain't gonna work. Like house flipping, or wall street hot stocks mania. Bubble and bust. Tulip mania.

ya, there could very well still be some collectors then, but they'll have their pick of collections being sold at huge discounts. When it gets down to life necessities as opposed to some elaborate ceramic duck collection, or anything else like that, guess which wins?

People who aren't in the top 1/10th of a percent income now....pass on the collecting. Take the money now while it is still worth something.

Learn from history or repeat, the only two options there are.

I just checked my '07 and it appears to be 54cc type 2. The emission tag doesn't state the cc's like the old ones, but going by the cyls it doesn't have the fins on the top like the 60cc do.
