While waiting for my 3800 rings I thought I'd widen the exhaust port on my WildThing 4018WM and open the muffler up. Tested compression on saw and it read 110psi. Prior to the rebuild it was 130. Thinking it was a worn cylinder( no scoring) I used the original one and it again read 110. Is it possible that you need to replace the ring when you tear it apart? My gut says no but I have no explanation for the low comp. Wonder of it will run .

Did you bust the ring or overlap the locating pin or anything on reassembly? Does seem weird. I can see a new ring not reading as high as as broken in ring, but the same one you would think would read pretty similar.

did you remove and then re-install the ring? put it on upside down?
did you get any carbon under the ring?
did you run it before testing compression? got any oil on the cylinder walls?

I never touched the ring, though I did oil the P&C prior to reassembly. I would have thought that would have increased comp. Haven't run saw after reassembly. Wasn't sure it would run correctly at 110psi. Maybe I'll run it and see how it goes.

Take the Schrader valve out of your tester, clean it and then try your test again.

XXV super deLuxe

I need the PTO side cover for Super deLuxe XXV. What fits? I pretty lost on these small saws. Also would like to know what the visual difference between the 33 & 38cc saws?

BTW, What in the world is going on in the Poulan thread while I was at work?

Looks like some jokers around here need to do a google search and find some car forums to hang out in. :ices_rofl:

:msp_biggrin: Mark...These are all POULANS !!! Now we are back on track.

Showme, Is this what your Deluxe Super 25 looks like? The covers from most S25's should fit I believe. Different years had different decals.

As far as a clutch cover for PP375 goes, I might have ya covered on that. Its in good shape, no breaks or cracks that I know of. Adjuster is complete and working. The decal is pretty much crap, and she ain't pretty. If ya want it, just PM me your address and I'll send your way.

At least I showed some good old American iron this time!

The wood hauler is the only American car in the stable anymore. My last 3 were ABSOLUTE nightmares. If I'ma drive junk, it's gonna get 50ish mpgs. ;)

I hear ya on that. I'm looking for a new hauler now, but since it will be my daily driver also, it will have 4 doors and heated leather too(I gotta haul clients around too).

Gregg,

Showme,
I have a few covers for S25s also, but the decals and paint are pretty beat up. You can have one for postage if ya need it.

FYI, the car forums are full of 18 year old kids who got fancy cars when they were 16 and have never worked a day in their lives. They are not filled with real life experiences, but rather whatever info Wikipedia or Google had on whatever topic they were looking at. If I want to read about how some kid Googled the best way to adjust valves on an 86 911 Turbo, I will visit a car forum. For good laughs and good company from guys(and the occasional lady) who know what it means to put in a hard days work, sweating through their jeans, putting food on their table, I will come here.

That's the cover I need, as soon as I can get to a real computer I'll send my address.

Thanks.

Scored this on craigslist a few weeks back... now I finally have something worth posting on this thread.

Looks sharp, but the bar is about 30" too short. Unless your name is Niko, and you go by the handle, "sawtroll", then a 6 cube saw needs a 20" bar.

Ah, Mark, If life were that simple. I had tested it on my other 4018 and 2375 and it hit 135( who has three of these WT's?????). I did what you said however and after reassembly its still at 110. At this point I'm going to see if it'll run. If not in the trash it goes, after salvaging the good parts.

It's a 24" and it came with the saw. I'm looking for something nicer to put on it, around 36". Maybe a roller nose or a old school Poulan Pro bar. Those Pioneer bars that were made by Windsor are nice as well.

How common are chain brake units for the 3400,3700,3800,4000 saws. I took a gamble on some brakes for other saws and got 2 nos brake clutch cover units in poulan pro color.
