Sawbones, Nice saws. They look like they are in good shape. Thats a nice combo, the P62 and P51.

I thought the farm saw was kinda cool. tag on it said tune up and chain.

yea, I think they are all runners. I bought the 51 from a local guy last year and he was using that one.

Think I will gas that 62 today and see what happens

many of the saws I aquire are so covered in grease you would never think they could ever run again.

I dont call it grease any more though, I call it preservative..
some of my grease balls have turned out to be in near mint shape. :)

Ric, great saws there. Can we see some closeups when you get them cleaned up?
I was just thinking after seeing a couple more P62's on here last week that the original yellow P52 might be just as rare. Does anybody have one of those?

Pioneer P50

Hi, Fairly new to chainsaw collecting & very new to this forum. Aquired a P50for free as it was locked up, cleaned it up & with help & parts from JacobJ & Propliner got it to run & run very well The only problem to solve, I would like to obtain a Muffler cap, Or failing that a muffler as I have had to braze a penny washer over a hole where the lower larger size bolt passes through the cap but the metal is *** PAPER thick & I will require one very soon,as I have quite a goodly amount of wood to cut this winter. Any leads to help would be greatly apreciated Thanks. P.S. This a super thread, Al.

P50 Muffler

Hi Arrowhead, Yes it is the outside cap/cover. The part with 3 holes for fixing bolts + the exhaust outlet , Fits to the other part of the muffler like a can lid excect it fits inside the muffler body Thanks Al.

That's quite a stash of Pioneers you have there Ric!Where do you store all of your saws by the way?
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence

Ran into a guy today that is looking for a flywheel for a Pioneer/Partner P52. Flywheel # 433294 is found on P39's(black ignition module only), P42,P52, and P62's. It would have to be shipped to Ontario, Canada. Let me know what you have.

Pioneer P41S

Here is a couple of photos of the P41S I picked up last weekend. It is a 79 model, real good original condition for a saw 30 years old.
Good to here there is a good flow of saws heading east. They will have a good home

New To Me 650's

Hi Fellas,Picked these two 650's up a few day's back, they were both attached to an Alaskan Jr mill.I know the recoil is shot on one of the saws, and clutch cover has a hole right through it on the other saw.Other than that I don't know much about them.I will have to start cleaning them up and see what's needed,Oh yea one of the saws also has a couple of cracks in the top cover.

650's

Nice looking pair of saws. Very straight.
I have not seen the Pioneer Saw Chain sticker before.

OK Lawrence, those pics answered my questions and put my heart at ease as far as what they look like - the little picture from the CL ad is fading fast in my memory, and wasn't the best picture in the first place! I should be able to find a clutch cover for you at my friend's shop.

So, what's the problem with the recoil anyway? Is it an old Fairbanks-Morse recoil? If so, there's usually an "FM" logo molded into the recoil cover in the little center circle part on the old Pioneers - many were made with either the FM starter or Pioneer's own design. The FM would be a plus, since they're not too difficult to work on and parts are all over the place for them.

You looking for a top cover too? I'm pretty sure my friend has one - he has probably the better part of a dozen 600-series saws on his shelf that are more or less complete. Said he wore them all out back in the early '60s bucking to length on landings for one of the local logging outfits. Not too many guys come to him looking for parts from those old buggers anymore (probably just me...), so there they sit. He doesn't really want to get rid of them altogether though since they've been his for almost half a century. I might be able to coax a cover off of him though. I know a lot of his are the brown ones, more common on the 620s, but I think he might have one or two greens as well.

Little Al, I can not seem to find that muffler cover. I know I had an extra, but I searched all my boxes of parts and can't locate it. If I find it I will let you know. Does anyone else here have an outer muffler cover for a P50 to help him out?
