Well I guess that makes sense. Too bad I liked the idea of a 4 hr work day and thought I'd cross the border and put in my application at the post office. :)

Best job is working in the sorting station, you are indoors, out of the heat in the summer, out of the cold in the winter but you are on your feet for the whole shift.

Hey Porky, how ya been mate? That little spring with the hooked end contacts the starter pawl and the other end tucks down behind the cooling fin right behind the pivot bolt for the pawl. It supplies pressure to keep the pawl in toward the center when the flywheel is stopped.

1074 covers

OK I talked too the boss about the A/F covers again. he said "get them to make you something', I said " no boss, you don't understand, Look closely at this one, It has to be dimensionally correct, radi, ribs, everything, except of course the wood grain". I also said "to go through all that machining, it would be better to just make a mold & have them made down the street at the injector. I know guys that would buy them". He said," It would cost $20,000.00 to make a mold". I said, "no it wont 'cause we will make it here". He just grunted & went to catch a plane to Daytona for the "24 Hours of Daytona". (He has driven in that race many times, but not this year). So, I don't know how much luck I'm gonna have now that I impressed on him that it had to be exactly like the original, sans woodgrain. We'll see. I'm gonna KEEP working on him. Like I said he has 7 Stihl's. So he is a saw guy. We just need to make sure he knows how serious we vintage collectors are.
I,ll be scarce around here for the next week or so. Next Saturday is the season opener of LexJam II Unplugged". A big open music jam I host 10 months out of the year, so I got a lot of rehearsing to do to get ready to kick off the season. Hey you Ky. guys here. Come on out to Lexington Center (Food Court area at the bottom of "RUPP ARENA". 1:00 to 5:00 pm next Sat.) The rest of you can check out all the goodness @ www.lexjam.com . I host the acoustic version. I want a guitar with a saw bar for the neck:cheers::blob2:

thanks for that jerry, i will post some pics of the little saw later. it sure does have a crackle to it when its running. it hadnt been started for about 10 years but a quick clean up and it fired third pull. these pioneers are in my blood now i have a real soft spot for them.

I guess I should ask before I continue. Do you want me to continue posting craigslists finds here? I thought about the "I saw it on" thread but how many of you look there?

Only if there in IL. :hmm3grin2orange: I say post them, there's a better chance they will be appreciated here. I did not see anything either, they must have removed it.

Odd the link still works here:

Nice looking old 1110, that was the last Pioneer my dad bought and used up until 1985, I still have it and run it when the urge hits me. There was another thread on AS a couple weeks back about having your first saw you ever owned, I could do that thread one better, I have all of the chainsaws I ever owned as my personal saws, have all of my dads saws and most of my Uncles as well, they all run very well, now that`s a collection.

I agree

For $30.00 it seems like a good deal to me.Better scoop it up Lou if it is still around. You have to love those metal air filter covers.Even the decal looks good.

I would be sleeping in the barn Pete. Mosquito's are not a problem but the raccoons and opossums are. It has also been a bit cool for camping out.
I am a fair weather camper.

Power question

Spent a day with 2 saws cutting macrocapa rings How should the P61 compare to the P51? My honest opinion? The P51 is the better saw

Ok um my 51 is a good saw take a hell of a saw to match it
Ive had new rings fitted to the 61 I was expecting a bit more power but it feel about the same maybe a bit less The 61 i feel needs a bit more flywheel weight? as it dosnt have the power or torque? Could it be that when the 61 was seized that it done something else? It could be a bit down on compression? The 51 just howls The 61 more of just roars
But still does the job
