Does anybody know what the letters following the the mod. number stand for on the P series? Example: P51CW. I believe there are other letters on some of my other saws, but its too cold outside to go look. :)

I have an original (generic) Owner's Manual (#431750 English/French) that I got with my FarmSaw (1979 or 80). I have scanned about half of it to *.bmp-s. I will post the entire thing once done to an image hosting site if anyone wants it. I do not have the ability to convert it *.pdf format. This raises 2 questions.
1. Would anyone like a copy?
2. Is someone willing to convert it to a pdf format? It is huge in bmp format.
Lou

I can turn it into a pdf. Can you email it to [email protected] or post it? I have full on Adobe so I should be able to open and save to PDF in one shot.

Thank you so much. I would rep you but I dont see the button???
Do you have shop manuals for the saw.

Ok. To everyone: Who can tell me where I might be able to find a Cylinder gasket for this saw? What parts may be available for this saw. I know the A/F cover is not. HAs anyone looked at the pics I posted last night???:cheers:

There are cylinder gaskets on Ebay for this saw pretty regularly. It's a whole gasket set complete with crank seals. Brendon did say that the crank seals don't fit every saw that the gaskets do.

the rep button is the scales picture under the avatar...

I do not have anything that actually spells out what the CW stands for but from my limited knowledge the C stands for anti vibration chassis and W stood for Western equipped models.

These are some common markings:

CBC = C.S.A. certified (for Canada)
CBD = Standard North American with half-wrap handle
CBW = Western equipped with full-wrap handle

Not too sure what the "B" letter means.

Rep for you!

Good info Brendon, abou time I strted spreading this syuff around for fellas that have helped me out many times over. There is another famous Guru on here Who is well overdue for some as well.

I know you guys are putting together something really helpful, but I didn't see the info for the 1074 in your lists. Please correct me if I missed it, as I can wait. This will be a drawn out project due to the time constraints mentioned in a post last night. Anyway this covers me, dont know 'bout anyone else.

If you need it now, I have the IPL for the 1074 that I can send you, but will need your email address.

Looking through the service manual there is none that I have for that one.

Whats the difference between that and a 1073?

I'm still trying to figure out the differences betwixt the 1073 & 1074. I know i've read on here that the A/F covers are not [always] interchangeable. I guess that means there is a ser.# break where Pioneer changed something. What I've found so far is that ther are a lot of the same parts on both saws, but yes, still trying to figure out what all it entails. You can send me the IPL at [email protected]. What do I owe you for this valuable info?

Another quick question, my 1074 has a foam element in front of the carb. Everything I see here is the flat felt filter. Can someone elaborate. The saw body is set up for this foam element from the factory. Is this a less desirable version of the 1074???

1073 vs. 1074

I can tell you this much for sure.

The 1073 has a spring loaded goofy piece of crap sheet metal chain tensioner that is supposed to push the bar forward if you loosen the bar nuts a bit.

The 1074 has a more traditional screw driver adjust tensioner. As a result the clutch cover is wider to accomodate the mechanism and the bar studs are longer to accomodate this.

That much I know for sure.

As for the air filter elements. My 1073 had the foam piece in front of the carb but after I got it running I put the flat filter piece shown in all the IPLs I have seen. Got them off ebay. I have ran it both ways. I don't think it matters which style is used from what I can tell.

As for the covers. I can't imagine they are different. Even my P25 cover is identical to my 1073 cover other than the color. If there are any differences they are very minor. Oh yeah, and they suck either way...

You should have it now.

Sorry Brian, not trying to brag, but just wanted to show how nice they look if they were cared for,the rest of the saw is pretty much the same shape.I think there is a picture somewhere on this thread.I won't put up the one I have for a 2071.

Good I'm glad you got it in one piece. One other didn't fair so well, but its replacement is on the way.

I'm still trying to figure out whats up with the Canuck post office? They must be on a 4 hr work day for the time it takes you guys to get your mail.

When it comes across the border all the parcels get dropped into the dreaded Customs Inspection Dept, stuff langurors there for days , guess they inspect each parcel manually or with Xray and ultrasound etc. so 4-6 days of its journey is taken up before it gets on its way again. Once it is released from Customs it only takes a day or two and its here. I can mail Lawrence a parcel on Monday and he will have it Tuesday evening or Wed. morning.
