pioneer regulation

Can someone explain to me how to regulate the carburetor of a pioneer 1074? my engine keeps stopping every time it has to run idle. I have two screws. One that goes to the throttle and one that goes to the carburetor. I've been turning on the one that goes to the throttle, but that's not the problem. I know the regulation on a stihl is approx 1 rotation, but with Pioneer?
A repair manual would be handy as well

Could anyone give some info on the holiday type saws? sizes ccs etc

Thanks David

If you google "Chainsaw Collectors" it will take you to Mike Acres site where there is all the info you are looking for, click on where it says green chainsaw, and the site will open, then scroll to the make of say you would like to get info on. There is a couple of models of Holiday saws in the Pioneer lineup.

We are at present trying to put a whole bunch of Pioneer IPL's and shop service manuals together.ModifiedMark has already kindly provided his material.Chris is going to be hosting them in a location for viewing I'm sure the 1074 will be included.you will have to get the Gurus to respond to your carb question

Silver Pigeon, the mixture screw should be turned in until it is lightly seated and then turned out 1 1\4 turns. This is the initial setting. If the saw will not idle then try adjusting by very small increments in or out from there. You will need to adjust the idle speed screw accordingly.
If you cannot get the saw to idle without dying or hesitating on acceleration then the problem lies either in the carb itself or somewhere else. It could be low compression, bad crankshaft seals, intake leak or even a weak spark. Twice I've cleaned those carbs in an ultrasonic cleaner and that has done the trick. Remember, there is no high speed adjustment on those carbs and that makes them finicky to set up.

Thanks for the fast reply on the carburator issue!!!! looking forward to the Pioneer IPL's and shop service manuals! Please let me know when it is possible to view them.

Good to see you on here don't believe I have before,so welcome.A couple of the fellas here are putting together a site that will host just about all the Pioneer information you can think of,but I do not think it is finished yet.If you need the information ASAP,shoot me a PM with your email address and I will see what I can do. P.S. there is a catch though,we would really like to see some pictures of your saw.

Thanks Lawrence I had posted a bit back awhile ago but just mostly read everything and kept quiet lately. This thread is a great asset for anyone with old Pioneers. Since I got my 1420 I have been on the lookout for others and recently got a Pioneer Partner P62 that runs great and is in great shape. I think the CAD has kicked in much to the dismay of my wife and any close neighbors; these old things are loud! As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will try to get some up. Some of you have already been a great help on these projects with both parts and advice, Thanks

You might want to try photobucket, that is what works the best for me, but I only say that because I am not familiar or comfortable with the other way.Anyway try whatever way works best for you.We are just glad your here!

Ok guys Got my show done Saturday great turnout & a great bunch of musicians:clap:. Now gotta get a lil bit done on the 1074 before I get really busy with music for the summer. I cant believe there hasn't been a post here in 4 days. No luck with the boss on the mold for the 1074 a/f cover:dizzy:. but pushing on with the restore. We have a closet saw collector here in town that owns a outdoor power eq. shop. Im gonna talk to him, he's an old timer here & probably knows who the Pioneer dealers in this area were. Maybe track down some NOS pioneer stuff. Man I,m at that point of the winter, is it Guitars or Chainsaws. ahhhh decisions decisions. Soon I know it will have to be Guitars til things slow down in the late fall.
Hey who has a run on reasonably prices "Borazon' wheels for my Oregon 511AX???? Anybody.:greenchainsaw:

Something's Coming

HMMMM its quiet in here...too quiet.,anyways I have discovered that the part number for the cylinder I need for my 14-20 is 471424. I don't know if any of you guys who bought out dealers might have one of these laying around that you could part with. I also need the idle adj needle for the carb and I can't find one anywhere. Its PN is 428419 and its for a tilly 39a I think. I realize these are odd and obscure parts but hopefully someone can help me locate them. Thanks
