Here is a comparison set of picts of a KO95 Oregon bar compared to an original Pioneer bar, the Oregon bar is narrower and the tail end is about as small as one could go and keep the chain on and oil getting to the bar. Original looks so much better.

D176/d276

Hi Jerry

I've been offered a D276 mount Mculloch NOS with .404 sprocket...ever had any experience with this fitment? Looks like the adjuster peg holes will need to be made taller to line up? Its57mm measure across the centrline of the peg holes tapering to 38mm at the sprocket end. My old bar is 53mm tapering to 36mm....will the tail fit?

Cheers

Andy

Sorry for so many questions but the bar is in Scotland and I am in Ireland, so your advice really helps.

pioneer P21

Hi,

Just started to repair a pioneer P21 (became into Pioneer when started to work with a 1074) and I am looking for an IPL, a service manual and a user guide for a P21. I also have a P26 that wont start so if you have them for a P26, they are always welcome. Please send to [email protected]

Greets,

For you Pioneer Guys

I posted up pics of some saws I acquired, but I wanted to be sure to let you Pioneer guys see the pics of the Pioneers in yalls own thread. I have been on this site for not even a month, and have been helped tremendously. I came to this site, just like I did to the Dodge Diesel Forums. I had something going on, and wanted to see what others experience was with the problem. So, here is the Pioneers to give back to this site...

I have not fitted a McCulloch bar to a Pioneer 600 series but those measurements sound to me close enough that it would fit but you may need to make some adjustments to the oil hole in the bar to make it align with the oil supply slot in the saws bar mount pad. That is a very easy task as it would either be just to enlarge the existing hole or possibly drill a new one. I have used Homelite bars on many of the Pioneer 600 series saws and that was all it needed to make them work , a little laquer thinner removed the homelite logo painted on the bar so the same could be done to the McCulloch bar I would think.

Thanks for posting the picts on this site and have fun with those Pioneers. You going to clean them up and try to get them running?

Jerry, I just came noseing around but looks to me like you need to try a D176 Poulan/Echo mount bar on those. The slot is for 5/16" studs and the tail looks like it might be the right size. At least compared to the bottom one.

Thanks Mark, I happen to have some Poulan bars squirreled away, might have that mount among them. For myself I am pretty well equipped with bars but get asked quite often if there is a current maker around that sells a bar that is a direct fit. I have not found a direct fit replacement bar but a few can be made to fit with a little adjustment. If the Poulan D176 will fit I will post it here on the Pioneer site.

This is a little dumpster find that I thought that I might as well take it home and clean it up. I usually don`t bother with the small P series Pioneer saws but broke with that line of thought and I am happy to say it is a great running little saw.

It had a small issue with the throttle linkage and needed a fuelpickup line and filter in the tank.

Any body remember this stuff? I found it on a shelf in the back of my shop. It was with optimol mixed at 100:1.

Yes. I bought a 1074 new in about 1981 and got some of that with it. Forgot about it for years,though.....

Well I took pity on it, sitting in a dumpster all alone, ready to be dumped into a landfiil once the gates opened for the day. Lucky for it I am a Pioneer guy and took it home, pushed it in under the bench last Sept. and forgot all about it until today. Spent an hour putting in a new fuel line and filter in the tank and the throttle linkage was connected incorrectly but it is actually a New linkage rod, just installed incorrectly and it held the throttle around half open. Once corrected the saw started on the second pull and ran correctly ever since. It has 155 lbs comp. cold and actually seems to have been used very little,

I don't know either, but just from first glance they look close.

I found a NOS Phelon coil that shows it fits alot of P series saws, I'll have to get the #'s for it again in case someone needs it.

But on the other hand I got to go look at a lot of about 25 saws next week and there are a couple of Pioneers in there, so I might be asking for some advice.

Let us know what you find, inquiring minds want to know. LOL
