Thanks, guys. I've been doing some catching up on the site. Looks like some good projects and fab work. Good to see the thread is still going strong.

pioneer 450

Does any of the old saw experts on here know where I might find a coil for a 450 pioneer or what else might work on it?I am new to collecting and working on them but I have had some great help for the great people on here.I can see this is very habit forming :D Thanks for any help guys.

I have swapped many coils on saws due to them being NLA. On the 450 the center post is much larger than the more modern coils so it requires the post to be resized. This entails filing or grinding the post to suit the size of the newer donor coil. A couple of laminations can be removed on the flat sides but the edges need to be resized accordingly.

I have a pto side case half, stamped 474956. I thought it was a yellow farmsaw but that is 474958. I know these numbers are close, but it is definitley 956 on the case.

I can't find 474956 on any IPL I have. Anybody know?

Made this for the 650 today

Stainless inlet pipe, with a nice radiused end for airflow.

I checked every IPL I could think of, no dice. It's still an active item, if you add the 507 (poulan) to the part number, it still comes up as a case half. Bailey's - C/CASE

Thanks Arrowhead :) I am starting to look at the exhaust next...............i can see this is going to get out of hand :dizzy:

Got 2 part numbers here I am rying to figure out what they fit.
505275715 I ran this one on baileys and just got a listing for a seal no apps.
The other is a coil and not sure as to what it fits.
Baileys showed nothing
475314
Thanks

Ok, here's my next mystery. Arrowhead sent me a bucking spike that should fit either a p40 or a p41.

But it's too small for the saw I have been calling a p40. Here's a pic.

The one for the p40 (?) is on the left and the one Ed sent me which fit's a p41 is on the right.

I think this p40 is a p50.:msp_w00t:

My hillbilly drinking-straw-in-the-exhaust-port bore gauge looks like around 51mm. A p40 is only 47.6 and a p50 is 52mm.
Also, according to the ipl's a p50 has a more rectangular vertical coil, which this saw does have, opposed to a stubby round coil like the p40.

I can't see any numbers on the jug without tearing the saw down, which I guess I will have to do. The piston has two very thin rings.

I'll take some pics of the saw tomorrow. I got this saw last year from another member, and only used it a little bit. It has fuel system issues and I didn't really need it so it has been sitting on a shelf much of the time. I knew it was heavy but never really thought much of it.

88cc's are better than 66! More to come.:msp_rolleyes:

EDIT.....the id tag on the bottom is missing if you were wondering.

I did pick up a p28 the other day maybe it needs a coil.
I got to get some pics posted. Got a bunch of the smaller saws the other day. Need to rehome some of them for parts.

I've got a few gaskets that I need help identifying. I've googled and searched most of the ipl's. I may have missed something.
Thanks Kevin

507-430102-smaller saw carb gasket?
507-430103-same saw probably ^^ carb reed gasket?

LOL You probably have a P50 Chris! A couple easy measurements will tell you. On the lower frame, if the saw is upside down, the width between the av mounts will be wider than your P41. Also measure the bolt spacing on the starter cover, the P41 is smaller. The clutch cover and starter cover from the P41will not fit the P50.
