I have a P28 saw with the Original 16 Bar.

The numbers on the bar is: 16-058-325

Can I replace the bar and chain with a Oregon Bar and Chain combo?

This brings you to the Canadian Tire Link: Oregon Bar Chain

One more question.

With a saw like the P28 can you use a different sized bar and chain? I have a brand new chain from an old Stihl saw that is a lot thicker.

Thank you

Andrew, the numbers on you bar mean 16'' bar, .058 gauge ( the thickness of the drive link where it fits into the slot on the bar) and .325 pitch, which is the distance between links on your chain.

A p28 takes a standard KO95 series bar, which fits many other saws, small mount husky for one. That bar from crappy tire will have some kind of safety chain on it, which doesn't cut very well. You would be better off to go to a saw shop and ask for a ko95 bar and a good chain to match. The bar and chain GAUGE must match each other. The pitch must match between the saws drive sprocket and the sprocket nose in the bar. You have .325 pitch now ,so you need 325 pitch on your new bar. You can run any gauge you want, the saw doesn't care, but they have to be the same on both bar and chain.

Hi moparman its been a while, got any new saws lately?

I have a few new saws: Poulan Pro 655 (never cut wood), another 655 that I need to rebuilt carb & put a clutch & oil pump on (only a few tanks thru it), Pioneer Partner P42CB & P45CB (both only have a few tanks thru them), Pioneer partner P62 (next on list to assemble), Pioneer Partner 360, 5000 plus & 7000 plus (all virtually unused).
I just rebuilt a Husky 1100CD, finishing up Dolmar KSM-4 and Poulan 8500, and have Dolmar 144 to assemble. Then I need to start on some Pioneers. I've been busy.

Got any pics of that 655 that has never seen wood, I can't get enough of those beautiful machines.

Just picked up several boxes of NOS pioneer parts. Mostly small stuff. A few pistons, rings etc. Might find some treasure

Nice haul, just like christmas. I love that clock, there was one on ebay last year but I didn't have any coin at the time.

Very nice haul indeed, It's nice having all the small parts to rebuild a few saws on hand. :biggrinbounce2:

Seeking a little advice here... what do you guys think of a NU-17? You know, that 89cc top handle beast... would one be hard to disassemble to get to the points or is it not a bad saw to work on? Just curious, as I have been talking with another member here about a trade... (no yellow or red saws in the trade)

No problems, very easy to work on but finding a good coil is difficult but not impossible. I have rebuilt a dozen or so and have picts of complete teardowns and rebuilds. Lots of help on here if you need any, they are a unique collector.

So the coil is tricky to find. I like stuff that is easy to work on... so that is another cat in the bag towards a possible trade.

I've already nicknamed the saw as a big ass 89cc top handle... :D It looks like whole overflowing bag of fun, that's for sure. :)

LOL...., First one I did cost me close to $400. to complete it using NOS parts that I found all over NA and a couple from the EU.
The ones since have cost me much less, the last one I did was basically free. I did a build thread on here a few months back.

Wow, 400 bucks? All NOS, that ain't a bad deal... considering the thing probably would, even if it was being used everyday, outlast a new creamsickle... :)

I'll be thinking long and hard about trading a orange 350 for a NU-17... I can see where the 350 would be nice for when me or my dad get a little tired of swinging a big saw around, but I like the idea of another classic saw in the line up... I'll probably go to the heavy Pioneer, just because backs can be made stronger, you know... ;)

IEL Beaver & AB Fuel Tanks

I am looking for fuel tanks for IEL Beaver & AB. I have tried the swap thread but no response. As Pioneer was IEL before OMC purchased them, I thought I might have better luck with the Pioneer guys. I have one of each saw that badly needs a tank. I am looking for fuel tank with cap if possible and the fittings, lines, etc to hook up to carburetor.

Pioneer NOS Parts

Nice haul Jeff, a local shop?
Jerry
I never turn down a chance for NOS parts. Looks like 13 boxes in total. Not far from home. A dealer in the 60's and 70's. Haven't had much time to search through but looks like all pre P series stuff. I seen a new top cover for an NU 17, some 600 series parts and a couple of top covers from the early P40 P50 saws. (thin covers) Looks like most will be up for sale or trade since all my saws are the later P series.
Will post more photos after I look through it all. I am sure someone will be able to put some of the parts to good use.
