I believe this old girl is scored just based off the feel of lack of compression. Pioneer NU-17
Hmm... looks real familiar for some reason...
What are gonna do with it?

Are you offering the parts book, brochure and signs? I can be at your place tomorrow by suppertime-ish. I got the twin late summer. Since then I've sold 3 saws. Haven't replaced them yet. No urge to...I know it sounds crazy but that's the power of finding "the one".
Joe - I can see about saving time but I hope your option isn't really a good way for me to save money. I could put a lot into this restoration and still be under $2k. If that's what it costs maybe I've underestimated what it's going to take. That being said I'll check with my wife. She may want one for herself. She says my saws are stupid but on the inside I know she's jealous of my twin.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
Does the metal oiler gear go back on the crankshaft centred over the plastic oiler gear in the pump? I know the manual says to set the gear with the seal installation tool but I don't have one of those.
Centered certainly makes sense. Can't remember how I've done it - likely just pounded it on w/ a piece of pipe. Maybe I could see marks from where it was before I pulled it. Do you have another saw on which to get a measurement? I can check one if you're stuck.
Jeff next I think you should get one of the Twins then I would have more room .That would make Bev real Happy

sweet saw. now you need to give it some character scars by cutting something.
If you want to come over in the summer and hold the helper Handel I will make a video . I have cut with them before want to make a new spike up for it a little paint of the bar is no big deal they are fun to cut with .There no speed demean lol it would be great fun at a steam show :msp_w00t:
On a road trip with Jeff we stop in to see a friend and I brought home this IEL 52 Super Twin . To restore for a friend . I like to get them running first before I tare them down to clean them up and paint them . The 52 twin a a real hard find .

That looks like a good show to take in. From the photos it appears the grounds that hold the event has lots of shade trees. Does anyone exhibit chainsaws??I am sure there are others, but here's one near Chicago:
South Lake County Agricultural Historical Society
That is a great saw for restore. You said it would be easy to start. All the hard to find parts are there and in excellent shape. Can't waite to see it restored. It will be a nice one for this years shows at Lang and Athens.

Yep, abot 70 acres of shady Oak trees there. They have had chainsaw exhibitors in the past, as well as a steam engine powered sawmill.
You cannot believe how large some of the old steam-powered tractors can get!
Shade is a must at some of the mid summer shows. Always nice to visit a show in a different area or country. We do not see as many steam engines as we used to at our shows. They are very heavy and hard to move. high cost of transportation. Our goverment regulations do not allow much steam pressure. Don't know the exact #PSi but it is low compared to what you are allowed in the US. I have been to a show in Canandaigua New York, they are very impressive to see under full steam.
Our local show in Athens, Ontario is the following weekend.
Ted, if you go this year let me know... maybe I'll hook up with ya.
There's one in Pontiac IL, it's huge, I went last year and going back this year. I brought home 3 saws last year. I think 1st week of August???
... and Pontiac isn't that far away.
Will you allow me back in IL yet? :jester:

Missing the lower screen
not the prettiest but has good compression
Been a while since I've owned one... I think I'm gonna keep it
Thanks! I haven't had much of a chance to go through it yet but I probably will be needing a few thingsCongrats, looks to be well used, but as long as it runs good... who cares. :msp_thumbup:
