Joe
Just have Bev tell me when to bring the truck. We will make a load anytime. Your videos say it all. They are all great running saws and excellent restorations.

All I can say is,WOW, that is a big one. Looks quite complete, going to restore it?

Jerry
I could not pass on a chance to get this rare piece of Pioneer history. Joe has the saw running great. Since they were never painted i will leave this one as it is.

Now i need to get one. It sounds like no

Fantastic job.

The Western P41 saws have a full-wrap handle, rear-exiting muffler and the flat feutron air filter.

Is my saw a P41 Western? besides the P60 series upper handle and the PP455 clutch cover. it does have the full wrap, the rear exiting muffler and the flat air filter. also the handle etc is bllack not green.View attachment 275273

Finally - IEL SuperTwin 51!

I've been looking for one of these for a few years. It's one saw that I would trade any of the rest of mine to get. I found it locally through Kijiji. Met an awesome older gentlemen that had no use for it. He was in his late 70's at least and remembers using it with his father in-law. It was his father in-laws saw who is long deceased.

Initially I thought it was complete. Now I see it is missing the spike and drive sprocket cover. The drive sprocket is pretty worn as well. I would be grateful to anyone that could point me in the right direction to acquire these items. I have to start somewhere so please PM if you know of anyone or anywhere.

Here's some pics. BTW, I haven't had time to get it running yet. The pistons/cylinders look nice and it has a ton of compression and spark. I have no doubt that a fuel line overhaul would get it going.

Does it bother you that they don't look the same? If your friends and family are giving you are hard time about why the 2 saws are different, I'll gladly buy those unwanted parts off the complete saw!!:D:laugh::laugh:

Great looking 51 Twin. You will love the sound of an IEL Twin.
I am sure Huck can answer any question you have on these.
You will have to bring your saw to a show this year.
I must have been snoozing when you got this one on KIJIJI

P51 oiler gear set position.

Does the metal oiler gear go back on the crankshaft centred over the plastic oiler gear in the pump? I know the manual says to set the gear with the seal installation tool but I don't have one of those.

Jeff,
I'm glad to hear you take a day or two off Kijiji every now and then. There were a few people that saw this one though and started a bit of a bidding war as it was listed as "best offer" or something. Only an hour drive from me so I had to have it. I can't wait to hear it run.

Jerry,
Yep, I've seen Joe's videos. He does a great job on restorations. I thought I was only missing the bucking spike until I saw his video for about the 6th time. If I get this one done up like his and one of my RA's done up as good as yours I'm probably going to stop collecting saws. There's nothing else I want! I'm finishing my basement now. There's going to be spots for each of them in the family room.

In my opinion they are worth restoring and displaying them. I really never got into the two man saws as they were never really used around here much, trees being smaller I guess. I wouldn`t pass one up though as they would be very unique in this part of the woods.

Gonna stop collecting  The only way to be sure is sell them to me quick.
Oh on second thoughts its probably to late, your hooked!
You will need the parts book, brochures and an IEL sign or two.

Are you offering the parts book, brochure and signs? I can be at your place tomorrow by suppertime-ish. I got the twin late summer. Since then I've sold 3 saws. Haven't replaced them yet. No urge to...I know it sounds crazy but that's the power of finding "the one".

Joe - I can see about saving time but I hope your option isn't really a good way for me to save money. I could put a lot into this restoration and still be under $2k. If that's what it costs maybe I've underestimated what it's going to take. That being said I'll check with my wife. She may want one for herself. She says my saws are stupid but on the inside I know she's jealous of my twin.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
