Pondering adding a 500i

That is very good to hear you have had no problems.

It seems I saw a post where someone was concerned of dust getting in under the filter, double washers, or something.

Maybe this stuff has been resolved.

Workarounds and aftermarket parts are not really a fix.
Did it get fixed or revised by Stihl. Is the filter really a problem?

No filter issue with my 500i.

I admittedly don't use it much, nor in extreme conditions. Someone doing wildfire fighting will have starkly different needs.

I wanted to get a 500i, but after watching Notch Em & Watch Em's new video of the 500i vs the 592xp, I'm more then likely going to opt for the 592. I'm 100% a Stihl guy, all my saws are Stihls, but that 592 is one nice saw! Same goes for the new 540iii. Guilty of treason did a comparison of it against his 200t. It's got me wanted to jump the stihl ship for Husqvarna lol.
