Power Porting

Yes I am still here.
Darin did tell me that I could make posts about my saws but I really didn't feel good about doing so until my account was paid.
I will make some posts in the next few days,I dont have very much free time right now.
Thanks
Dan

PP Saws

Yes I have ported a few of the 385s and I can achieve the same gains as with any other of the Elecrolux quad port set ups.I have only done one of the 3120s,that was about three years ago.I came up with the brain storm that I needed one, purchased a new one. After porting it preformed really well but I couldn't justify carrying all of that weight around,it found a new home. They can be made to run very well but when they are in stock form they are slow.
At a local fair a few month ago,my Husky dealer sponsored a chain competition, all stock saws(he wouldn't let me compete)
He had one of every size Husky saw there for demos if anyone wanted to run them,I also took along some PP saws for the public to play with.
Our test log was an 18" round poplar log.I made three cuts in that log with a PP372,3/8 chisel chain, round filed, two cuts down and one up.I then used a new 3120 with round ground 404 chain and make the same three cuts.Granted the chain 404 chain had a wider cut and the saw was not broken in.I really was curios to find out how much slower my PP372 cut then the 3120.I looked at my dealer with the stop watch,he had a frown on his face,I actually out cut the 3120 by 4 seconds flat in those three cuts. Both saws where then ran by other people and the 372 was the winner each time, not by the 4 second margin but it was still quicker.
Tony will have that beautiful PP372 today,UPS tracking number is 1Z4575020348122226
woodsjunkie will be here on Thursday or Friday to pick up a pair of PP2149s that I just finished. He is also going to bring a stock Husky 394 along.I will take a picture of him right after I out cut that Husky 394 with the Big Creeps(mryb) little PP372.I could be wrong but I do think the PP372 will win.Maybe he will have to take a picture of me crying,we will see.
We will play with a few saws when he arrives, take some pictures and time some cuts. Will post the results ASAP.

Mr. Henry,
I'm looking forward to meeting you hopefully Thursday.
You had better put your best Sunday attire on b/c I will be taking a lot of pictures of you... LOL (after I whoop butt)
Will see how my 2149Greffardized runs against your PP2149....
Maybe I'll bring the KD2159 along also.
Tony,
let us know what you think of the beauty..

Dan,

Thanks alot for the info I don't blame you for getting rid of the 3120 they are definetly heavy but there worth having when you really need them I got a really good deal on mine from a friend who needed the cash he only used it a few times I stole it for 425.00 cash with 36" bar and 3/8 LG chain not a bad deal I thought..I'll be in touch..

Later Rob...

I drug the old beast out today, Blew the dust off,Put a new plug, fuel filter, Freash fuel,Etc. She still run fairly well , Hasn't been run for a couple years now.
Look out Dan !!!!!

Time to go munch on some PP saws or what :D :D I would like to hear some feedback before and after you have Dan do his magic on that beast if you would...

Eric
I really liked the bar, nice touch. But you better get out the Nitro because you are going to loose. You also better dig up some kevlar because that little saw will hit you with chips so hard you will think that the killer bees have found there way to Pa.
Dan

Rob,
That old girl is staying stock. (I don't like it to begin with )
But she should put on a good show against the PP372.

kevlar ? What is that ?

Oh well what do you mean you don't like it:confused: Do you want to sell it???I would still like to know how it does up against the 372 when you guy's get done having some fun...

Later Rob..

Kevlar

Eric
Kevlar is a polymer that is about 5 times stronger then steel. It is use in a lot of bullet proof vests.

yep she got here today . ill get to know her a bit . then pull out the 667 and 336 for comparisoms. the 036 is as fast as the 667 i think. to tired to do much with it tonite but ill have some time tommorrow. ill post anything that mite be of interest. understand with me ,im not on any bodies payroll . so what i post will be the facts as i seeum. truth sets u free.
later now.

well i guess yaw knew that wouldnt last.
couldnt leave it in the box no longer.
somebody coulda told me where the tension screw.:) first time ive seen one like that.
so there all lined up .
in one lane the almost new solo 667 and she does cut well.
in the other lane dans husky, which by the way looks is a little more like my kinda saw. beat up but ready to go.
gonna make a special trip to the land tommorrow to get about a 20 inch oak dn. that ought to be enough to get a idea of how they compare.dont mind sayin the 667 aint no slouch . thats one reason i was happy with the 036 . it came pretty close to the 667 but i had to ad a little dn pressure cause the 036 is so much lighter.well anybody wants to fly in for the contest . ill pick u up at the airport.:)
