an hr into playday. one thing ,i noticed that the 667 does not have as aggressive a chain as the 036 and 372.
so its really between the 036 and 372.
this 372 is the smoothest saw ive ever used. speed wise its faster than the 036 in 12 inch pine.
then in 10 inch cherry they are real close wit the advantage going to the 372 by a tad. this is play day for me so ill play with what i like tro play with namely .these saws.im just getting started. i may buy a more agressive chain for the 667 to level the playin field.
dan one things for sure . u are rite about this saw making u less tired at the end of the day. very smooth.

Any new info Tony??Did you equal out the 667 for play time with the 372PP...Just checkin in on how the saw is doing...:D

Later Rob..

oh well the fun didnt happen got it good an warm and realized the 372 is not set to our climate an needs adjusting.
dan says go ahead an lean it out so
it runs rite. im a little leary of adjusting somebody elses saw ,but will set the carb tommorrow. the 667 was off the same way when i got it . ill put the 4 stroke tach on it ,but the last time i did that it gave unreliable readings past 11000. believe id rather do it the old way and trust my ear.
ok i turn it in until shes starts sounding rough when i gas it then out about a quarter turn or until it revs up good .
this is the way i learned.

well me again. an guess what . the choke had come loose from the carb hook up. just slipped back in place.
i want it on record that i didnt touch the adjustments. whew . that thing screams now. i wouldnt adjust it any higher for nothin. the choke must have come loose ,when i noticed it running rough today.
now we will get to have some fun tommorrow. freaky things do happen.:)

There was a post about that happening to the 385's a while back I guess the choke rod would fall out of the bracket,I have'nt had this happen to me yet..but at least I'll know what to look for when it does.

Later Rob..

Dan let us know when Eric shows up today and you guys go to it with the saws I would like to hear if the 394 gets beat or not  and how the saws do for times....

Later Rob...

PP Saws

Rob
Eric showed up today with some saws,we played for about 4 hours.Took a few pictures and made more then a few cuts.Unfortunately Eric has the only copy of our cutting times. He might not be able to post it tonight, its about a 5 hour drive home for him.I can say that he didn't have to take any pictures of me crying.

Here is Eric making a cut.

Dan it's good to hear that you did'nt end up crying that is a big plus :D So how did the 394 standup to the PP372??I can't wait to send my saw done that way for some improvements;) ..That picture kinda reminds me of what I'll be doing this weekend cordwood....I'll be in touch soon..

Later Rob...

took the 372 out today. didnt bother to take mine. chain drops like a rock in water thru pine or hardwood.
gotta say its the fastest ive seen.
i thought it would be louder but not much louder than my saws. good machine dan. ill put edge on it tonite. later now.

PP Saws

Tony
I was getting a little concerned when you told us that the PP372 was only slightly faster then the 036.I am glad that you got the saw straightened out and running ok.

StIhL MaGnUm
Yea the little PP372 actually out cut the 394,not by much but it did out cut it.Eric will post the times later.

Huskyman
Eric did pick up his two PP2149s,they are a nice little saw and seam to work well.I also ran his new kd2159 that he just received yesterday.Nice little saw that really screams. But what else would you expect,it came from Ken.

First I would like to start out saying I really enjoyed my visit to Dan's place.Dan is one of the nicest most honest guys you could ever know.
Here are the times from Dan's PP372 Vs. My stock 394.We both ran the saws and timed each other.(I timed Dan and he timed me .Neither one of us knew the times until we were done) we both made 5 cuts with both saws using same bar and chain (16" .050 3/8 round filed chain)
cuts were made in a 14" red oak log
Dan's average times (in five cuts) with my 394 average 3.1 sec.
Dan's " " " " " " " PP372 " 2.9 sec.

My times with (5 cuts also ) 394 3.2 sec
my Times with the PP372 3.1 sec

I think these were impressive times with Dan's PP 372 Vs. 394 (creep this is one heck of a saw Dan built for you thanks for leaving it for us to play with)

We also ran one of the PP2149 than Dan just built for me against my 2149 Greffardized
we did the same # of cuts with both saws . same bars and chains
Here are the averages
Dan's Times
PP2149 8.8 sec.
2149G 9.0 sec

My times
PP2149 8.9 sec.
2149G 8.9 sec
There just isn't enough difference in these two saws to talk about.
The slight edge may go to the PP saw only b/c it not broke in yet

I also ran my new 2159KD
It averaged 5.5 sec. and needs a few more tanks of fuel and leaned a bit yet... Wow does this saw run "awesome"

Anyone looking to have their saw ported I would "highly" recommend Dan.
also if anyone is interested I had Dan PP two 2149"s and I don't need them both. Someone can have the other one for what I have in it. Get ahold of me if you interested.these saw are impressive
Eric

Here is a pic of Dan going at it with the PP372

I forgot to mention that we did do some testing between the 3/8 chain and .325 and their was minimal difference.I found that the 3/8 has a slight advantage with the rakers set at .017-.018
Here is a pic. of the PP2149

Eric those are some pretty impresive times, I'm gonna be sending my 385 to Dan in a couple weeks for the treatment I'll let you guys know the results when I get it back...I can't wait...Thanks for posting your results for us.

Later Rob..

Tony,
Now that you have the PP372 running correctly whats the verdict will it run with your 036 and your solo?
