I used one those hedge trim attachments years ago,
They worked pretty good and were not dangerous at all.

When I got the email update that you had posted I was so hoping to see a pic of one on a bow bar. :)

I didn't think they'd be any more dangerous in use. More in a " I tripped over it in the garage and now I have 12 puncture wounds" kind of way.

WOW, you guys go all out in hedge maintanence:msp_biggrin:Next it will be fishing with hand grenades, LOL.

Those hedge trimming attachments are still available. I've not used one, but think with would work fine for rough cutting. I think it would leave more to be desired in a sculpting situation.

Soooooo.................. anyone here going to fess up with pics of their newly aquired U.S. Army 754 geardrive......? Saw it listed on E-bay. Thought about it 10min too long(dang tricker treaters.....distracting me:cry:). Someone banged the buy it now button($100), and just like that it was gone.:msp_unsure:

Not me as I am full up on 75As.

I did, however, snag a Monkey Wards/Remington this evening.

Now the waiting begins while the USPS grinds thru its' gears.

We will be looking for an air box lid in a couple weeks.

I modified your pics for clarity:

I might have an air filter cover round here for that wards.

Thanks Drew, been looking for one.

Typical ebay pictures. Clear enough to wet your appetite but dark enough to hide the warts.

Seller claims it has 165 psi comp., new carb. kit and runs.

With it, I've filled out my " '70s Greatest Hits".

found the wards......

.....but the air cleaner is not correct, does not even have all the parts, if you don't count the homemade cover nut :msp_thumbdn: This was a parts saw that came with a bunch of other stuff out of an old dealer. It is a re-badged SL-4, with manual oil only and no decomp. I don't know why, but those air cleaner nuts are hard to come by. They look the same as the fuel cap(only smaller), and the bar oil cap, but always seem to be missing and replaced by something else. John Deere, and the Remington SL series used the same part, as did Wards. I've got a SL-11 and 4 needing one. I've looked into it, although the part numbers are different, I think that a SL-9/10 or possibly a mitey mite one may work(cover nut, that is), but I have never tried it. The bare covers are easy to find, but it's the nuts that are the pain. Sorry to get yer hopes up. :msp_sad:

Here's my Wards Power Kraft 2.8/Remington SL-9. Is this AF cover nut the same as what you're speaking of? This saw will be heading north to DSS (Chris C). It has a roached P/C. If you have a good useable SL-9 P/C to spare then you may want to mention it to Chris. Probably would make his day!

Thats the right cover, but older style PL series knob. The SL series has a more aggessive knurl around the edge(just like the fuel caps in Carl and mine's pics). I did a little checking and noticed that the auto oiler adjustment setup is a little different. I have only seen the side handle type in the PL-55 and PL-7. That might mean your wards is bigger than you thought.

I know I have a couple used SL-9 p/c around here somewhere Can't vouch for the shape till I dig them up. I did have a NOS piston, but I think that is gone. Early in the week I'll check to see what I have.
