Thanks for the info. Sounds like good advice. I've decided to read this entire thread and have learned a wealth of information on these Dolmars. Just want to say thanks to all of you for making this possible. I see some more of these saws in my future: espicaly if they run like this 120si! Can anyone reccomend a 50cc class saw that will impress?
Yes :)

I always end up here

While searching the net for sachs dolmar info. I would always end up here. Only place I could find out what the mx extra stood for on my 143. Thanks for sharing your smarts.
opinions are like butt cracks everybody has one, that doesn't mean I want you to share yours with me

Sachs Dolmar 166

A friend of mine brought a 166 over to my shop yesterday for a tune up and clean. That is one big saw. I get to use it today to cut down a big willow tree. I hope my arms can handle the power. Anyone have one of these saws? Are they any good?He got it from his father in law that passed.

Those saws are terrible, send it to me now before you regret it!! Really, that is one of the most sought after saws from Dolmar, big and nasty, just the way a saw should be, tree's just fall down when they see that coming!

You will enjoy running it, I never seen one but have read lots about them.

I believe I have posted pictures of this before but here it is again, the S-D 166 in McCulloch colors sold as an SP118 in Australia.

The only shortcoming in this saw the the location of the kill switch in relation to the manual oiler button...

Don't know about the "Super" sticker, never seen that before. The white color makes me think its a 112 anniversary edition. If so, its 51cc. I have also never seen orange under the white paint on the clutch cover like that.

My curiosity got the best of me and I pulled the muffler and measure the bore....It's 47mm, so probably a 119 or 120??

117 Black/White 60 year anniversary saw

3.7ci 61cc I believe there was a Black/White 117 issue saw my guess is 1987 for a year

The 117 I have has a different muffler, but thats possible. Haven't seen mine in a while, so maybe it does have that style lol. Its definitely not a 120 Scott? How can you tell if you have time?

That saw has the EURO style muffler not US Forest service approved..
From the Position of the carb adjustment screws

117/119 Till HK Carb
120 Till HS carb

Me thinks Scott hit it on the head, I sure would not second guess him.

Here are my 120si and 6800i projects.

The 6800 has an .005 copper base gasket, new Meteor piston/rings, and a carb kit.

Runs real good, and sounds mean!

The 120si has new piston/rings, carb kit, both are awaiting carb covers/filters and new bars. (120si will be getting dual dawgs and .005 copper base gasket too)
