I may go that route but need the ballast when moving logs so I hang my Matthews Company 8.5' flail mower off the back.. My last tractor had the tires filled with beet juice but still needed the mower on the back for ballast. Thanks for the suggestion!
Can you fab up a removable tray to sit on top of your flail mower?

Thanks for your reply Jeff, I will look at the cab and see if that is possible. I have thought about building a carry-all. The tractor is a 2006 TYM T-700 with more than 650 hours on the clock, it weighs approx. 8600 pounds with the front-end loader and is powered by a John Deere 2.9l Power Tech engine. 70 horsepower. The tires are not filled and when working with wood I like to keep my 1500-pound flail mower on the back for ballast. here are a few pics of some stumps I have dug out with that tractor. I have not owned the tractor long I traded my 55-horsepower open station New Holland and some cash for this tractor and so far I am very happy with its performance. It is capable of so much more than the 55-horsepower tractor.
TYM makes a good tractor. I don't know how many pages back you started reading this thread, but just a couple of pages ago, I was saying that I almost bought a TYM a few months ago (in May) but ended up with the Kioti, only because the salesman for Kioti was better than the TYM's was. I was going to get the 754 which has the Deutz engine, which I liked. You should get many good years of service from that machine.

It's an okay set up...almost the best I can do for the space constraints. The entire space is only 30'x35' and I park 2 pickups in there...and several motos. Besides the small welding area, I've got my mill and lathe on the opposite wall. Also a 30' long workbench that runs the entirety of the back wall.

In the near future, I might build an enclosed carport so I can move one of the trucks outside. I was also thinking of adding a 10x35 room off the side of the shop and moving all the welding and machining tools into that. At the very least, building a lean-to in order to move the 80 gallon 2 stage, noisy AF compressor outside.

Beautiful, and CLEAN shop Sierra! I like what you have. I've got a little ways to go before I'm done setting mine up yet. Kind of like Chipper mentioned. Now that the weather is turning here, I'll probably be spending a lot more time out there than I do during the Spring/Summer.

Rainy day yesterday got me thinking about making up my detachable trailer tongue for my SuperSplit splitter. I cut the tongue off months ago because it gets in the way when unloading rounds out of the tractor bucket onto the splitter from the front. I took a sheet of 1/4" steel plate 8" wide x 4' long and cut 4 pieces off of it to make my sleeve. I got it all fitted this morning. I greased the inside so it doesn't rust up. I painted the outside afterwards. I made up two quick connect pins out of 1/2" bolts and 3/8" round stock.

I bucked up a face cord or so tonight. Not a lot, but we had rain on and off all day long, and I wanted to get out and at least get a little something done. After that I threw the 28" light bar on the 500 and sharpened the chain. Still haven't cut with the light bar yet, so I don't know if there's much of a difference in weight or not.

I'm not posting any pictures of my garage here! It's a Mess with a capital M! I have a stick welder with a variety of electrodes and hand tools. While I would like to have an AC Tig machine, I feel I'd have to do side jobs to pay for it. If I really need to, I can use the equipment at work. I used to do side work but I got burned out on it and now just tinker for myself. I've been living welding and millwrighting for 30+ years. I enjoy my trade but when I get home, I want to do something different.

Looks good. I see you guys had help from the Highway dept. (guy leaning on shovel) :buttkick: Matt, make sure Uncle Mike has a flashlight when going to the stand.

That’s the 6ft 4in nephew. He actually worked his @$$ off this weekend

Yeah, flashlights are good

So, I finish putting the rails on the new white oak stand late today ... and then the trail cam less than 50 yards in front of it sends this back!

If I did not already get one, archery season for bear is open now!

This is getting tough to bear!

Bear is good just a little greasy.

Morning everybody

No cutting this weekend but I did deliver four cords. A while back I was given about 4 to 5 cords of wood because the people didn’t want softwood so they gave it all to me. I hauled that home and passed that onto some new owners. Two more loads to go and I’ll have gained some very valuable parking spaces back.

Thanks, it's not as organized as some, but works for me. I know some guys that just keep their tools in a pile on their workbench, I can't operate like that. If I get more than 3 different sockets out at the same time, I start losing them.

The 28" LWB is a big deal. That's my favorite bar size, I'm running a 28" lwb on 3 different saws.

And don't forget gallons of bear grease ;)
Farmer called me two weeks ago about two bears in his squash field eating. To bad the early bear season had ended 3 days prior. I did scare the living daylights out of them from about 260 yards away. They moved thru 100 feet of woods into the next field. I showed up over there and scared them again from 275 yards. They haven't been back yet.
