Most of the time it’s a rouge bear, or injured ones that will attack without hesitation, I ran into several grizzly in Glacier NP on the trail at close range, they all high tailed quickly,
That may well be. I am not at all keen on finding out myself. Stay safe everyone in or visiting bear country. :drinkingcoffee:

You don't need bear spray for a bear that retreats. The question is: How effective is bear spray on a bear that attacks? Call me old fashion, but I'd rather have a gun if it comes down to him or me.

At close range, my Glock 23 loaded with my "horded" stash of 180 gr Winchester Black Talons would not be a bad choice. In tests of hunting game (at the time they were still being manufactured) they were said to "enhance" the effectiveness of the cartridge being used.

Yea bear spray is just a deterrent , an angry bear 🐻 will just run threw it like it wasn’t even there,

In Oct, my trail cams have picked up one doe, one coyote, one raccoon, and bear on 6 different days (sometimes 2 in the same picture, sometimes on two different cameras). Some of the days we did not see them on camera, we were up there working on projects.

We seem to be inundated with them this year. I have never seen anything like it.

You are absolutely right about some equipment not being built for heavy work. I recall looking at a New Holland 30hp?? tractor before I bought my Kioti. The center section of the tractor was so inferior looking for the size of the machine. Based on looks only the Mahindra was by far the heaviest tractor of all the ones I looked at. The 3pth area was definetly the most rugged looking between 4 different tractor brands. Kioti says not to use a 3pth backhoe on my tractor without a subframe. They claim it will break the 3pth.
Yes, I agree it's kinda surprising how different mfg make their equipment but can still be in the same "class/hp range" of equipment. Also seems like some don't worry about sub frames with loader/hoe applications while others do.

That's what I like to hear! Hoping I have many years and trouble-free hours with mine as well. I also agree with what @sean donato said above, I use my tractor, and will probably use it "hard" when the need arises, but I try not to crossover into "abuse", and keeping up with regular maintenance should help as well.
i learned long ago... street racing and drag racing... you can break anything!

We've got lots of bear sightings and trail cam pics of bear on our property as well. For some reason, the images I got from my memory cards last week won't upload here. Been trying for a couple of days ever since @MustangMike posted his pictures the other day, but for some reason they won't upload. We did definitely have more bear sightings last year though. I figured we'd be seeing A LOT of bear here right about now, as our temps have been getting down to or close to freezing at night, and the sun is going down sooner, so I figured that they'd be putting on the feedbag, getting ready to hibernate. Not sure why I'm not seeing as many right now as I was last Fall though.
some bare sightings are... 👍

i talked to a tractor dealer. we looked at JD's... he showed me 3, all 30 hp... and all had dif sized/thickness/design frames...

one for the DIY weekender... and one for the 24/7 ag/construction use. i am thinking none of the 500 hp models have light duty frames! lol ;)
