That would fit right in with some of the things done in that garage over the past 50 years. Out of respect for my father I won't mention any of them at this time...If the seat unplug doesn't fix it, you could always install a battery disconnect switch. Right on the fender redneck style!
Here kitty kitty. Not often that you see a cat out on a bright sunny day, and this looks like a really good sized one!

Those make a mess... not sure it's worse than my chestnut tree though with chestnuts' spiny burrs and sizable catkins. I cleaned both of those out of the gutters today in prep for killing the moss on the roof under the chestnut tree's branches. I'll use the leaf blower with a candy cane extension to blow the leaves out in a few weeks... My girlfriend has hickory nuts and hulls all over her yard...Just to let you guys know, I use the wheelbarrow too ... and these Black Walnuts just don't seem to end!
Notice the chainsaw milled Shag Bark Hickory handles!
Do you harvest the chestnuts? Those make a mess... not sure it's worse than my chestnut tree though with chestnuts' spiny burrs and sizable catkins. Yes. My son is the primary gatherer... his wife helps. I'm guessing at least 4,000 were procured based on a sample count. American Chestnut Foundation identified the tree as a hybrid with Chinese. I was hoping they were American Chestnut! They are distributed to family and friends. My DIL ran a bunch through a dehydrator this year to see what happened... I think she was going to can them too... I don't have that much interest! LOLDo you harvest the chestnuts?

There is a LOT of competition for the nuts: squirrels, chipmunks, woodchucks, deer, skunks, and Chinese... That last group became a real problem. At first, maybe 10 years ago, there was a family with a small child and a grandmother. Last year there were 20 or more coming in groups. They'd be out there at 10 PM and later with headlamps. I put an end to that... No Trespassing signs went up in my yard. The dentist next door is pissed too as nuts fall on his property and they'd be on his property in his planting beds at all hours. This year new ones showed up and were escorted out... three guys would come together and one acted as the look out. He'd hide by the telephone pole next to my big arborvitaes. I threw them out at least a half dozen times... they don't speak English. My daughter in law threw two guys out and used a Chinese translator on the phone to convey the message! I resorted to having the police remove them when I saw two guys parked at the dentist's at about 10:10 PM... and then they worked into in my front yard (I have two mature trees). Taking my dog out gives me views from the back yard that I don't get from the house.
Another family had two trees in their yard but they were taken down this year. I've been meaning to stop by to inquire about why they took them down... the mess or the Chinese trespassers/thieves. It's a shame as a neurosurgeon originally owned the house and he put them in. His daughter was part of my friends pack... They were always neatly pruned and the mess was cleaned up weekly. Those were the second trees I'd seen. One of the neighbor farms I hung out at as a kid had a couple along with fruit trees. That's been long gone as the farmer died and the land was sold off... It's the estate I posted about some time back.
One of the trees is really three... it was four but a teenage girl totaled her RX-7 hitting it. My son did the test count. He told me they had a plastic grocery bag that was maybe 3/5ths full and there were a bit over 500 in it. I got rid of, as I recall, 18 barrels of burrs this year. They produce that many?
Let me tell you my experience. The state park I camp at has two chinese Elm trees next to our campground. I never had them before and went over to the tree to investigate a elderly couple. Yep asian. to make matters worse, they were from Missouri and not even staying (paying) in the park (Illinois). They drive from St. Louis to pick up the nuts. Next year, we camped there again, but I beat them to the tree in the morning and evening. The same couple came around again but left empty handed while I was there. I only got 2 gallons so they or someone else got the rest. This year we camped there, but two weeks later after the nuts had dropped. I heard from a camper that the couple was back. Burns me that they take and don't put any financial support back into the park. What is it with them hoarding the chestnuts?
Just to let you guys know, I use the wheelbarrow too ... and these Black Walnuts just don't seem to end!

Cant' believe you just trashed that, don't you know what you had.Who knew that cutting veneer would be so difficult... I've been tripping over this pile of red oak veneer in my shop for at least 15 years. It is past the time to get rid of it! Each sheet is about 14"-15" wide and 10' long. The pile was about 13" thick. I tried the reciprocating saw and that was a disaster... it simply ripped the veneer apart length wise. I figured I'd try the 170. It was still amazingly difficult to cut... To a lessor degree I still have the splitting problem but it will cut... slowly. It would take forever to clamp thin piles together with cauls and cut it with the circular saw so I didn't even try that... Maybe the 661 with an RS chain would do the trick?

Tapping into the wealth of vehicle knowledge here... Does any company make a decent direct mount trickle battery charger that will work with side mount batteries? I've looked for hours but have little faith in an off brand $10 unit... the only one that by description will work.
There is a parasitic drain in my mother's 2001 Chevy Blazer that cannot be found... This happened before and everything that could be un-enabled was un-enabled and a couple grounds were replaced... That worked for a couple years and now the problem is back. At age 88 now is not the time to buy her a new vehicle... After driving the Blazer for 22 years she'd never figure a new one out...

I bet they speak SKS .I threw them out at least a half dozen times... they don't speak English.
Does this remind anyone of the saying that "no good deed goes unpunished" or it it just me? At least you know that you were a good guy helping out someone in need.Well I had some interesting scrounging yesterday. I helped a fella from church who had a tree come down in his yard. It was probably 18-20" at the base and he had no saw at all. I cut it up and fell the other half of the split. Got it bucked up as well and got all the limbs down to a manageable size. He and his family drug a majority of the brush out to the street for pick up. He asked if I wanted the larger stuff and I said I would take it if no one else did but it is not the best stuff. A yard tree with only about 8 or 10 actual nice pieces of straight firewood along with a million ugly , twisted and limby pieces.
Still I hated to leave them with a mess so I said I'd come after it. After loading tons of junk that may just go tohe burn pile for the most part, I finally unburied the little bit of good stuff. In steps the lady of the house and says " oh I think we will keep those for seats around our firepit! You know the firepit over in the corner of the yard that is grown up in weeds and hasn't had a fire in it since 1972!
When I redid the roof about 28-29 years ago the tree (the 4 tree clump) were not terribly big. They were far enough from the house that catkins and burrs never landed on the roof and there were certainly no overhanging branches or even shade. The moss and lichen issues started maybe 3-4 years ago. I am due for a tear off reroofing in the next 3-5 years and a continuous roof vent and zinc strips are in those plans. I redid one of my back neighbor's roofs around the same time (also added sky lights, repaired a broken rafter, etc.). She had moss and lichen problems so I put zinc strips on her roof and it helped. She had picked out a different brand and style of shingle and they didn't hold up as well as mine... She reroofed last year and I did not see any zinc strips added so she may have a problem again on the north side of the gable roof.Zink strips
I bet the speak SKS .
Ya I reckon!Does this remind anyone of the saying that "no good deed goes unpunished" or it it just me? At least you know that you were a good guy helping out someone in need.
