This is two little piggy's that didn't make it to the market, time to put more meat in the freezer!

Not sure how much of "what", we will make out of them.

Funny you just butchered hogs, I was just asking my cousin when he was going to be ready to butcher his hogs.

Speaking of mice
Last day of vacation.... realized I had a mouse in the shop last night. My wife couldn't remember where she put the mouse traps. (Usually means she threw them out.) Ran i to town to get new ones. All they had were the stupid plastic ones and the old style with the stupid plastic trigger. Ended up buying a 4 pack of them. Got home and bated them. Not nearly as hairy as the old style trigger. Went about clearing off the red trailer for one of my buddies. Cut up a bunch of slab wood I had been storing on it, stacked the tin out back, found a bunch of 1/2" pine boards, tossed them off to the side, and a few misc boards that I thought would work to replace the rotten boards on the little deck over. Parked the red trailer, then pulled the deck over to the shop. Yep, nope. It just needs a new deck. The more boards I took off the more I wanted to replace in the dove tail, and the main deck is rough in spots. Guess it's just that time. That deck has been on there since 2010, doesn't owe me a thing. Think it's going to end up being a spring/ summer project.
checked my mouse traps, and all the bait was gone, and none of them were set off...... went in the shop fridge and dug out a peanut butter cup, ate 3/4 of it and spread the rest all over the stupid giant trigger plate, tried my best to set them to go off really easy, and laid them back out.
Looked on the Interweb, and found I could get a 12 pack of the old style trigger traps for $12.00 off the companies website. Ordered a pack for future use.
Went back out side and re graded the property kine side of the shop. I noticed water was pooling near the center of the building foundation. I had a small pile of road millings I used to fill in the hole and slope everything to run away from the shop. Mind you it's been raining the last 2 days, on and off today so it was pretty muddy back there. The millings helped a good bit, and I finished just in time for the next rain storm. Everything seems to have worked out pretty well. Just checked and don't see any water puddling besr the foundation, and it looks like I did pretty well getting the water to run to the back of the shop and over the hill.
Checked the traps again and found this little bustard. View attachment 1225552
Sucess!!! Tossed him and reset the trap. Going to keep them baited for a while and make sure I got them all....
Speaking of mice!
Got some live traps off Amazon and embarrassed to say, caught 17 mice in 17 days in the basement..... this house is new construction 😳
Living in the mountains is nice in some ways and not so nice in others.

I love these "Intruder" Mouse Traps ... we use them at the cabin all the time. Usually bait with peanut butter. When not in use, just close them and the bait stays safe.

They catch well, you can often catch several of them w/o rebaiting, and they are easy to release the dead mice.

They are my favorite traps, would not deal with the old-style wooden ones again.

We rarely get mice in the house, or I should say, that I know of of. Wife has a couple cats in the house, I know the fat old one has killed a few. He eats them then pukes them up right where we walk. The shop still needs the door seals finished on the big doors so I'm sure they got in there. Everything else is sealed up pretty well. if I find any holes I'll stuff some hardware mesh in them and pest block foam them closed. For now, I'll just keep a few traps baited.

I like it. Next time I'm over at mom and dad's, I'll swing by ace and pick up a set.

I’ve got a bunch of those same style traps, Tom Cat brand, set at three houses. I feel like I’m running a trap line with no financial gain…

Despite all the rat snakes there are still plenty of mice around mom’s property. 😕

My son just sent me a photo he took tonight after visiting a friend who is in the hospital. He saw a fisher attacking an opossum on the road. The opossum was covered with blood… the fisher moved to the guardrail as they drove up.

Fishers must be pretty tough, I sure know a possum will put up a heck of a fight if it's cornered.

I did some reading on this. Much to my surprise they did fund a bunch of liberal politicians

Mind blown
It's very sad that so many companies go the woke route. Then there are those that are woke right from their startups, but act as though they are patriots and such:buttkick:. I only have so much cash, and like to support the company's that have beliefs similar to mine when possible.

I use those traps, only because the old school ones I had the staples came out of. That being said, they were pretty bloody after 20 plus yrs lol.
I just use chunky peanut butter, and smear a very small amount into the holes, making sure I get a peanut into the hole. I've watched people put enough on them to feed a mouse family for a week, I ain't trying to feed them...

What are you using for your bottom do seals. Do you have all overhead doors. I'm gathering parts to build my 12x10 slider on the inside. I plan on putting seals on the post and the header to seal it there, but not sure what seals I'll be using or where to even look other than doing a quick search.
Got these trolleys, they fit in uni-strut. Same type, but I got a better deal.

This is what the door will be built from, 4" metal insulated roofing panels, they're actually 4" 9/16 thick. I will cap the open ends(sides)and probably do something similar with the top, not sure about the bottom yet as whatever I do there will be visible from the outside.

Delivered a cord of almost 100% black locust this week out of my personal stash to a friend , but it's what we do :). Right 😆. Would have got some pics of that, but y'all wouldn't have wanted it to see that I'm sure 😉.

I built 2 10'x5' swing doors out of 2"x2"x1/8" box tube. So normal compression seals for the sides and wiper style for the top, bottom and center. I just got some cheapo roll of silicon door seal stuff off Amazon to get by this winter. It actually works better then I expected for how cheap it is. The door opening is an inch wider and 2 inches taller then the doors. Basically planning on sealing it like any other metal swing door, just haven't gotten around to making the jam pieces yet. I, also, haven't yet bought any of the permanent seals yet. They are the kind with the aluminum track that the j looking seal slides into.

Sounds great. I may do something like that for the man door into the lean-to.
Guess I need to get my Google fu on and figure out what all I'll use. Need to come up with a plan to make the door move closer to the posts/seals when it closes. I have a few ideas, not sure which will win out in the first round, but I'll try something and see what happens. I'm sure of one thing, that when I do finally finish it, it will seal better and be better insulated than any standard insulated overhead door I've ever seen.
