The Dolmar's a good saw too, and nicer to run in my opinion, but you can make the McCulloch last forever, even if you're on a budget. There are 20x as many parts floating around for the McCulloch than there are for the Dolmar.

Yes, I have noticed the parts for the dolmar are much harder to come by then the McCulloch; I am sure both saws would be an great addition to the work-force!!

Thanks again.

How come the Dolmar? Will the Dolmar be a better saw then the Mcculloch?
How long will the saws last me if I fix them, is there any estimation?

I am a budget cutter and don't have much money; so I really appreciate the information to attempt to fix my saws without much money.

Thank You.

With proper care both saws will last for years. As long as you can get parts I see no reason that either won't last as long as you want to keep them. The Dolmar has a better power to weight ratio than the Mac. I'm kinda partial to Dolmars and like both of mine better than my Macs. Get them both running and use them and decide for yourself. Keep both regardless.

Pics of your saws would be nice. If that 116 is a 116si you will find that it starts better than the Mac. Usually mine will pop on the first pull and run on the second cold. Just a quick jerk when warm.

288lite

Time to face facts:
1 I live in kansas, few big trees.

2 I don't want to cut the big trees that are here. (cottonwood)

3 I'm getting older and the 288 isn't getting any lighter.

Anyway, looking to trade my 288 lite for a newer 50cc ish saw. 288 needs fuel line and probably a carb service by now. (been sitting about a year) P/c is in good shape, Powerhead only. I prefer the pro series saws.

Let me know if nobody covers this... I'll get another headed your way!

Do you possibly have a 025 crank? I could use the cap and crank asap if ya got it?
I was tightening up the fw last night... snapped the dang end of the crank off.
It looked like it had an "air pocket" in the casting... hardly had any torque on it.

Looking for a decent looking square-top 029/ms-290 rear handle. Anyone have an extra?

I might have both. If you can wait, I'll check this weekend.

I might have the spares you need... I'll check tonight and can express if need be...

PS: no telling our new carb secret to anyone! :shut-mouth: :taped: shhhhhh!

I'll check back in before I send them to make sure nobody ^^^^^^^else^^^^^^ has sent parts...

looking for a Walbro SDC44 carb for a Pro Mac 60. according to my documentation a SDC 44A, 49, 58, or 58A will work as well. got some stuff from smaller saws and a little bit of worthless, green paper.

I have a carb off of a 10-10. I know it is a walbro but I don't know the #. Will it work for ya?

I'm pretty sure that any Walbro off of a 10-series will work. The choke and throttle linkages are all the same. It's just a matter of (for convenience) lining up the needles to the seal on the side of the air box (if the saw has one, not all do). And it's nice to have a fully adjustable carb, not all are.

according to the walbro carb applications manual
10-10 takes the SDC 37, 37A
10-10A takes the 37, 37A, 44,44A, 65
Pro Mac 60 takes the 44, 44A, 49, 58, 58A

based on that it would appear the one from the 10-10 may work. i know the venturi sizes are 19.05mm

I would like to find a wrap handle for my 5200, mine is bent. I would love a full wrap but a straight half wrap is fine. I don't have much to trade right now except for green.

Anyone need a new spur gear for a Stihl 015? At least I think that's what it is. I was supposed to get 2 020AV spur gears, but the not very attentive seller sent 1 for the 020 and another (completely different color and configuration) with 1116 as the only marking on it. It will mate to a 6 tooth sprocket, 3/8LP I assume. Pictures available if interested. Would like to swap for something I can use (024, 026, 044, 046 stuff mostly) or ....

Spoke with Ed tonight and I'll be sending the parts out in the morning.
