Took the saws out today for a few hours. The 066 is a kick in the pants. 32" cedar not much of a challange tho. 13-15 seconds all I had to try it in today. I know it doesn't compare to hikory or maple but to me thats a blazin. Ran it enough to know its a keeper. The 044 ran good 20 seconds thru same wood 8 tooth full skip chisel. Wife had a good time with the 260 and 019t. All is well with the world. Cut 3-5 foot lengths for wifes craft wood. Heres a few pics. Fun loading it in the truck.

time and effort to find the answer.......Its like he is getting
paid to do it!

Andy, what is good and what is bad when it comes to a vacuum/pressure test? I would assume that a vacuum/pressure dropping to half of its value over 10 seconds is about as bad as you want it for a working saw. A vacuum/pressure dropping to half of its value over, say, 4-5 minutes, should be ok??

Generally, you observation is correct, but pressure drop to half in 10 seconds is unacceptable.

Pressure should be close to perfect - hold almost indefinitely... Vacuum... 0.6 bar dropping to 0.3 bar in a minute or so won't cause too many problems BUT, a good seal will hold indefinitely... so.... if they leak, I just replace them.

Often a marginal seal will show a minor and apparently acceptable leak under test, but still not work well under real saw conditions. The 044 in this case was just like that...

Be careful if you have a decompression valve.. They leak particularly under vacuum - the valve is pulled in by the vac (o.k., pushed on by the outside pressure, but ...). You can hold them up with your finger for a quick test, but plug them if you are trying for a more definitive result.
