Ben, I am going to pick up my saw today from where I purchased it. It's had 5lts of fuel through it and I look after it with kitt gloves.. It was dropped off for them to have a look at. Well, after 2 weeks they managed to look at it and raised an invoice for it......50+bucks for blowing air through the air filter and a smear of grease....lets see if I manage not to raise my voice a little over this and thank them for the awesome service you speak of.
which dealer you going to?

Advice on stihl 044 needed. Trying to tune my mates saw, won't return to idle quickly unless the low speed needle is 3and a half turns out.... Soo guessing it will be a vac leak! We're do these 044"s usually stuff up please don't tell me crank seals

crank seals, base gasket ,intake boot loose or holed, impulse line cracked and stuffed fuel line,it might even leak from the bush where the clutch does up but i would would check any rubber components first ,a vac test is in order

Here we go folks. The legendary Ozito saw in action.
Think I will put a 1/4 chain on it. This 3/8 is a bit too much for the clutch.

Positively shaking with excitement, you was, its ok tho.
mine was given to me with a spare (neither going, both scrapped) on condition I did not give them back.
Yea perhaps 1/2 a Saturday after fiddling with it it runs ok with 3/8 low profile chain on its original bar. They both had 3/8 low profile skip. the little tricks we do inside that gives these little piss ants some future as a saw.

Got some wood sorted to take camping this arvo. Bloody national parks won't even let you collect wood from their campsites!

Yep and we sell all those in numbers except the marking crayons. The viewers of AS make up a very small percentage compared to the rest of the population who aren't tight arses who complain about price then want 5 star service in return.

Hey bennie,

The Crayons are to hard for most of us dribblers bennie, got something easier !

I posted a reply re the 076 filling with oil, do any good on that prob. yet, always had me confused, worked out to put it away empty.

I think some dealers on both side of the fence take customers as mugs and over charge. And given the current economic environment I'm sure there will be more and more of it as sales drop off.
We've sold a **** load of saws this year. I think people are getting more frugal with there money but are willing to purchase products that know are quality are will last and it's making saws they would normally be uneconomical to repair worth it again as saws have gone up so its been good and made me very busy lately. Sold a 241 today, love those things! What's every one up to this weekend? I hope to run the new addition to the clan, MS 201 TC-M :)

Yeh spoke to a mate over in Stihl and it seems the pumps wearing and it coming past that seem a problem. I don't think just replacing the oring or shaft will be a viable fix so I'll just have to get a pump assy for it

Ask Matt about one of his locals. Had a bloke come to me for a MS 661 after he squashed his 660. Rang me yesterday just to say how awesome the saw is. He was getting charged retail and then some for carbide chains :(

What did he do with his squashed 660?

It seems a lot more people are cutting their own firewood this year, can't blame them with our extra high power costs. Glad they are buying new saws for that :)

Also if you want to see how the 201TCM compares to a regular 201 let me know, I may know a bloke who has one.

Oh and this weekend I'll be cutting a tree root in a trench next to some concrete, wish me luck lol.

Haha definitely a big block, runs well. Nice to see them in grey now, the green didn't look so hot.

I used mine out on a job today, I think its close to 4 years old and still starts up no problem. Not bad at all for the price.

I have not seen a 076 filling with oil myself, none of mine or any others working near me did, that was a long time ago and those saws are long gone too. I own maybe 3 or 4 076 / 051 's etc which I have accumulated over the years, they don't leak so perhaps a donor saw and make 1 out of 2 be the go if you want a 076 running again.
110cc of Stihl, they were reliable saws but for me that shiny new 084 hit the shelves and '' oh what a nicer saw they were, even with their early hick ups with their carby's and air cleaners'' which they quickly fixed to make a wonderful professional log fallers tool.
