Yep. Tested the oiler and drowned the garage floor in bar oil...pumping well.

Nice work on the new oil channel Vince. With work like that you could probably start up a side business modifying these saws.....you could call it MasterMended or something like that.

I was just going to drill a new hole in the bar. I think you'll find it'll just run down the inside of the bar now rather than the outside of the bar....but that's a huge performance gain in my mind.

Love the name!! I lol'd [emoji1]
I don't know if you can drill another hole in the bar lower and still hit the groove. Would assume the current hole is at the bottom of the groove.
Gunna run the 1/4 picco tomorrow and see how it handles it.

Do you reckon that bar has channels in it for oil placement? I'll test it with some compressed air this weekend.

When I've lowered oil holes in bars I've just ground down with a dremel. That way you can make a channel up to the bar groove.

And on the confessional front - I've ran a tank of two stroke oil as bar oil. Expensive bar oil.

Yeah just went out and had a look. There is 2 to 3mm of groove below the hole so could have easily Dremeled the bar to suit. Oh well 6 of one, half a dozen of the other [emoji12]

I used to be real poor at mixing ratios. Let's just say I wouldn't seize a saw even if I dropped it in salt water. Other than that haven't mixed them up.
A couple of chains have gone on backwards. I think one touched wood for a couple of seconds before the penny dropped.

Talking Grub holes have seen a few thousand over the years they can be a pain if in the wrong spot say in the rail seat on a sleeper it will be rejected, same for flooring/ beams etc etc a grub hole can mean the difference between a perfect board or a reject...
The biggest ones I've seen are in red ironbark holes about 40mm round the grub is the size of a sausage, they make great cod bait next time I see a big grub I will get a pic..

I grew up down in that part of the world, on the edge of Mt Worth state park.
From Darnum, head up through Cloverlea, across the ridge at Allambee, down through Mt worth on the river rd, through Hallston, towards mirboo nth.
Really nice drive, with some massive Mountain ash and giant tree ferns. Beautiful country.
