Talking firewood, when you sell it by the cubic meter, I always tightly stack it and ask $125/cu mtr...

Some blokes round my way just throw it in the trailer and sell it by the loose mtr for $85/cu mtr...

I reckon I'm losing business to these guys....

When it's stacked loose it bulks up 50%-70% depending on log size of course.
Bought some wood for the FIL $300 a ton. My trailer is 2.4cm2 level and it was nicely piled. Nice dry red gum from Grantville.

My "vacation" stateside is already nearly over but got to shoot the 50 cal and various other auto guns. The power is amazing and how hard it is to keep the autos from walking of target. I did buy a ms362 in San Fran and sent it home I got no pics and didn't even open the box lol was in a rough looking part of town and just wanted to get the hell outta there, ended up carrying it 2 miles taking it on a train to get back to the hotel as traffic was banked up for like 3 hours and the misses wasn't impressed. Gea we're lucky in Aus some of the parts in San Fran were rough I wouldn't even feel comfortable with a ak 47 on my hip lol

That's the price I sell it for and I include local delivery in that price, within 10 kms free....I charge about $1/km outside my area.

Most people ask just for redgum and I ask them why? They don't know, just what dad used to get most say...I quote $200/mtr for loads of only redgum....most go for mixed after I quote them that.

Good morning
I wondered what cubic measurement equates to one tonne
I was told 2,2 cubic metres to the tonne others say 1.4 and another crook I spoke was selling 1 cubic metre as a tonne at $85 to pensioners :O(
I sell by the load and it usually mesures between 2,5 and 2.7 when the tape is run over it . actual weight varies as to wet / green dry , wet and green comes to stock pile at
home

It varies lots depending on type of timber and moisture levels.

Vinces dry redgum came in at 2.4cu mtr per ton. Typically your looking around 2 to 2.5 Cu mtrs per ton for Australian hardwoods when under 20% moisture content which is where you need to be for firewood.

12% moisture content is the best you can get air drying it. It dries out at about the same rate whether you keep it under cover or outside....tests have shown that if it is left outdoors to dry it can dry marginally faster as the rain is thought to help keep the capillaries open to assist with drying but the difference is only marginal......same with splitting, only a marginal difference.

If keeping the timber for firewood I cut it to lengths of 300 to 450mm long. ...my rule of thumb is to allow 1 day for every mm of log length divided by 2...so a 300mm log will need 150 days drying time to get below 20%

My trailer holds just over 5cu mtrs. When full with dry stuff tightly stacked it's just under or just over 3 ton gross and the trailer weighs 660kg. When wet well over 4 ton gross

Culture shock !
