Wanna swap? I've been doing this for the last couple of weeks. 2000 12mm holes per plate times 8 plates and 3 ops in each plate cause we're 50mm short on y axis travel. All in 630ss!
coupla weeks? you need better drills.. thin stuff like that should just punch them thru. even if you dont have thru the tool coolant.

Yeah boss wouldn't go past the $15 Suttons hss stub drills! Haha. Took about 20 sec a hole through 20 mm and got a plate out of each one so not too bad. We've used u-drills in the past but pain in the ass without thru spindle coolant. Boss is still stuck in the 80's with tooling. Won't let tool reps through the door. You can imagine how I feel about it coming from aerospace to this but he pays ok so I just do what I'm told. [emoji2]

Hmmm, recall I was wondering about best way to delimb small wood?:

20 minutes to setup and breakdown, another piece of equipment to maintain and store and that pussy little tree would have been limbed in under 3 minutes by a competent operator.

Weld the phucker (or version thereof) to an anchored stand on a landing and it's a poor mans pull-through delimber for the small stuff. Provided I face mecca and scream "Allahu Akbar" when pulling it through it's all good. Hallalerous firewood is us.

So bring entire trees back to the yard to be limbed rather than limb them where you fell them?

Now you've got a truckload of limbs you have to pay to get rid of and a stupid pice of steal welded and bolted to a concrete slab in the middle of the yard.

Yard? Concrete?
Tom Jones says it's not unusual to land whole trees on the landing, in small wood. But perhaps I'm just exceptional. Living on the edge.

Well limbing with a saw is quick and precise. The next best thing would have to be those forest harvesters, clamps the tree, drives two wedges through the trunk at the stump, lays it down flat and shoots it backward into the jinker and limbs it as it goes back......under 10 seconds a tree.

Muffo, how'd you go with sourcing a 661 for that price from those dealers?
Havent rang them yet. I bought a used 661 on ebay for 1200 and payed with pay pal and the seller is dicking around so i will be ringing them if it falls through

No laughing about my makeshift stand you fellas!!

1 8hp beast roaring into life! :)

They're great engines.

I've got the 13hp version I think in my ride on.....the starter cord housing was kaput, rusted through, so I fixed the starter and electrics...

Runs like new and it must be 20yr old I reckon....doesnt blow smoke or burn oil either.

Edit. It's 12hp
