Just put a new fuel line in a customer's MS310. Had to laugh at the dags between the fuel tank halves! Nasty stuff, especially in comparison to a little German built 023C that I just rebuilt for another guy. Beautiful little saw and runs a treat now :)

Fishy indeed, it's probably a knock off 038 with some 660 labels on it.

I agree Rudy but the picture is genuine. Something very suss here and the seller has no previous sales.

Looks like you are into the saw business now Matt, might have to get your own dealership :msp_wink:

Yeah I agree, but sometimes sellers do use 'file' photos.

Nah buggar the dealership bit mate. I'm happy just fixing the odd saws. I hadn't been doing too much then WHAM - mainly fuel lines etc. The poor little 023C got toasted by the elderly owner and had been sitting for a few years with fuel in it. Needed a new flywheel side bearing (the plastic carrier had busted up), crank seal, top end, fuel line, and impulse line. For some reason the intake manifold wouldn't seal against the aftermarket P&C kit's inlet so had to clamp it and grind a bit out of the plastic plate designed to hold it on - the old bloke bought this kit off of eBay from China despite only being $20 cheaper than the kit I had. The inlet leak and crank seal was picked up by the pressure tester and if the old bloke would have rebuilt it himself like he intended to he'd have cooked it all again. Stuffed saws have been non stop for a few weeks now and I've been trying to juggle fixing them between other commitments (ie: baby).
I did buy a genuine Stihl vac/pressure guage like Dallas had a photo of earlier in this thread. I also bought a Stihl seal puller. Bought them both off of Bennn*e. Not cheap but absolute works of art. That pressure and vac tester has nearly already paid for itself in a few weeks. Very handy tool.

I agree with the file photo bit mate. I'll bet my left sweaty one that it is an 038 with 660 stickers. I had one myself. To the best of my knowledge there are no real 066/660 knock offs yet and they are all based on other models with dodgey stickers.

Al, Here's a couple of good guides,

The Home Barista's Guide to Espresso : The Home Barista's Guide to Espresso • Home-Barista.com

Espresso Machine Buying Guide - Don't Skimp on the Grinder : CoffeeGeek - Don't Skimp on the Grinder

The fastest way to learn is to do a 2 hour basic barista course, some coffee hardware shops offer this service, It's worthwhile IMO.

Awesome Wayne, thanks mate. Yeah I could handle a 2hr course. Only thing is I might not not look at my Aldi special coffee machine the same again!

Good old Aldi...everytime i go the to get something specific they don't have it :bang:

Maybe next time :D

Toss that POS in the bin and spend about $2000 on a decent setup, your taste buds will be eternally grateful :)

You coffee snob Wayne! For $2000 Blend 43 starts to look OK ;)

Please don't take that personally Wayne and I hope it doesn't influence any future coffees you make (or won't make) for me...

Right, the saws are serviced and ready for tomorrow - it's pretty good having a service bench in the dining room :D

The bosses big ol' ms170 is going to get a workout

I know I'm a coffee snob, Matt you don't buy cheap tools or chainsaws why should a coffee machine be any different?.
Besides the money I save from home roasting and not paying for sub standard coffee at cafes, it wont take long to recover the initial outlay cost.

On another note I gave the Dolmar a mini paint job, I prefer black spikes and muffler, I'm just waiting on a few parts from Kyle to finish it off.

PS, We all dance to our own tune, you can have any opinion you like... you will still get good coffee when you visit :msp_biggrin:

Put some black paint on those alloy handle ends and make it a real 7900RS :wink2:

:) Regardless of the cost mate you do run a mean cafe ;) I did tell you to set up a roadside stall last time I visited but you didn't seem keen. You'd do well!
Good stuff with the Dolmar mate. Now you've got to come up and thrash it's ring off.
Worst part is that when you come to visit my coffee will be crap :D

Cleverly played Matt.

Hopefully Wayne gets the hint and brings his setup with him next time ;)

Well one can only hope :) Wayne does stuff all saw mods but has actually done a port job on his steam head to improve the frothing. Works a treat.

Rudolf, good suggestion I'll do that

Matt, I think I'm going to have to buy a shiny new 20" Tsumura bar from you, otherwise it's going to look crap with the old bar when it's finished.

Not a chance! It weighs more than my Dolmar 166.. a box of Robert Timms coffee bags will do :D
Now I have to find out what a 7900RS looks like.

This is what I drool for,

PS7900RS-1.JPG

They were a batch of early PS7900's (no decomp) that dynoed above average from the factory and were fitted with unlimited coils, then sold as a numbered and certified special (100 ?)

I thought we may have got some here last night Neil, the way it was going.
IIRC the forecast said down to 900m, so at least on the hills here anyway, so I'm not surprised it's a little white up where you are.
