I thought we may have got some here last night Neil, the way it was going.
IIRC the forecast said down to 900m, so at least on the hills here anyway, so I'm not surprised it's a little white up where you are.

update, big black clouds are back, how quick it changes here, looks like we may get some more today or tonight.

Toss that POS in the bin and spend about $2000 on a decent setup, your taste buds will be eternally grateful :)

Well, I'm deeply offended thankyou Wayne. I thought that was good buying @ $69.00 on my part! :D

Anyway, you gotta start somewhere?

Yeah you gotta be quick Rudi.

Another sunny morning up here in paradise, still minus something, sago snow everywhere. Clear last night and clear now but a howling westerly blowing so the real stuff maybe comeing.

You blokes will have to move south to the warmer weather! Admittedly it was doing a touch of the flakes in Stanley while I was doing a sat install but that is expected in Stanley.

trying hard to have another go tonight, we have 2 brothers and their boys comeing here tonight for a weekends shooting.
If the weather decides to get seriouse this hut will be popular. Hopefully they will get a few shots off and lower the varmet population.

I am looking for some advice on shipping a saw (power head only) from Australia to USA. I have waiting for me somewhere in VIC a McCulloch 73 and wonder what is the easiest/most economical way to get it sent to me in Iowa.

Anyone have experience shipping accross the pond and care to offer some insight?

Thanks,

Mark

Unfortunately Mark no options will be cheap. We don't have the same level of competition in Australia with Australia Post having a monopoly basically. You'll be looking at close to USD$200 if it's a heavier saw which I gather it is.

is it at Ace saws sport? oh and have you heard from Gumnuts as late, seems to be awol

Rudolf, good suggestion I'll do that

Matt, I think I'm going to have to buy a shiny new 20" Tsumura bar from you, otherwise it's going to look crap with the old bar when it's finished.

[snip]

A black Carlton bar with red label would look good too :msp_wink:

Is that a double ended forklift Neil?

That looks frosty for sure, I am a bit further north (Casino) right now and the weather has been good - hope it's all right in the morning.

Maybe over $200 now, nearly 3 years ago I send JJ a Husky 181 piston "air mail with $120 insurance", total cost $114. AUS :msp_mellow:

Weekend going bush checklist.

Hi Everybody,

Heading bush this weekend, need to check a few things. It's Friday, check. Datsun is loaded, check. MS441 is packed into the Datsun, check. Blowing a howling gale likely to flatten a few trees where I am going, check.

Looking forward to giving the saw a run. Will let you all know how everything went on Sunday night at the earliest.

Graham

Thats just a Daedong DK751 4x4 tractor, i mounted a 2 ton rigid fork on the back and is very handy around a bush mill.
blowing a gail up here tonight, trying to snow also.

remember to take your fuel / oil and tool kit and file, one never knows if they will be needed. Have fun

Thanks for the input guys.

The saw came from Terry at Ace but has been handed around for a year or so waiting to find someone willing to try and deal with it.

$300 is a lot to ship an old relic like this, but I may be the only guy in Iowa to have a 73 from Australia!

I have not heard from Graeme again since meeting him on a Sunday morning in Dingley three or so years ago.

I am thinking about having my friend hold the saw unitl I come back to Australia again then knock it down into some smaller parts, and packing it up and bring it back home to USA as checked luggage. Even if I pay $100 for overweight luggage I would be ahead on the shipping!

Australian Airlines wont ship saws that have had fuel in them Mark so rule out Qantas and Air New Zealand as luggage.
I wanted to take one over when i visited a few years back and they freaked out
