Your 660 proves that stihl mix does the job well.

any one used any stihl saw with this new fangle feature n how it work

the STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) - an additional chain braking feature

STIHL also offers an additional, manually-activated chain brake on some models. This system is designed to engage when the operator’s right hand completely releases the rear handle, stopping the chain within one second. Available on some models.

I have been away the last few days working in a plantation so I thought you fellas might me interested. I was helping out a bloke to estimate the yield on a property in NSW, which involved felling and weighing trees of different sizes. That was the fun job
Then we had to map and measure (diameter) approximately 1500 trees all around the property... that was slightly tiring but I'm glad we didn't run into an big boars :eek2:

Yeah I've used an MS261Q and that rear handled brake sucked dog's balls. Big hairy ones...

Hows it work, hand pressure electrical resistance or is it connected to ye nuts by a string. and why the heck on ye throttle handle I would'a thunk on if at all yer top bar stop thee handing while cutting.

I used a Husky trio brake set up saw now that sucks

hi all, well im a happy little veg, the new saw turned up this morning so had a good look at it , put the chain and bar on. took it to my stihl dealer where he went over it and detuned it to run a little rich. i thought while im there i might buy the sharpening kit, could do with a new one
wasnt sure about what bar oil to buy so i ended up getting 4lts of bar & cutter lube and 2stroke oil, both are stihl brands
i have taken pics and put the on the computer but need my daughter to resize them and put up on here for me
ive started it but thats about all
as its been a long time since i bort a new saw, do i need to use stihl oil and 2 stroke for warranty or what else can i use that you bloke run
your thoughts might be good
regards peter:clap:

Bluddy ell Rudi, what's wrong with taking averages like Hancocks does? You need to run a harvester with the "optimizer" program installed. That'll work it out real quick!

Yeah averages is the plan once we get the numbers to work. The problem is a lot of the plantation is planted in swamp and they tried out some new hybrid species which don't like wet feet... so it never grew much (around 2"dia). We are try to figure out if its worth harvesting or bulldozing.

Rip,rip wood chip turn it in to paper.
what species is it rudi.

I want that ms201t, i could stick a big chain on it and pretend it a 090 and go in a race with it.
thats about my limit anyway.

It's most likely going into wood chip then a furnace/boiler. We have already harvested a block but we need a bigger harvester with more power.

The trees in the pics are dunnii and I don't remember what the hybrids are.

The 201t goes like a 090... in really small wood haha

is it like the poxy husky trio brake matt

Haven't used a Trio Brake but if it's like the Stihl Q model it's nasty. It actually feels like it's connected via a rubber band - certainly not electrical. Just a grubby setup to appease safety - probably good for council workers etc but for anybody who's familiar with chainsaws it's nasty stuff.

now, now a carpender should not blame his tools :potstir:

Wasn't my tool Neil, thank christ. LITA training in Mt Gambier had one given to them by Stihl and every single person, bar none, hated it. It was like new and for good reason. More of a freak show than a useable saw :D

orrrrr well there ain't been any of this for a while but as a lefty i'm as happy as a pig in poo
