I was mates with most all the girls though, they'd always come to me with their fella problems :dizzy:

Have attached some pricing for guys so they can see what companies like Tsumura, Oregon, Stihl etc are up against. Any of the bars over 28" are solid nose only. Both sprocket and solid nosed bars are available under 28" and pricing is the same. The Chinese hard nosed bars are utter garbage and I highly doubt there is any specialty alloy use in the nose as they all seem to wear like normal steel :) These particular bars take GB noses (hmmm, what a coincidence :) )

So blokes what brand, make is this bar,if you were to change the sprocket nose what, where, how could you get one ?.
20" Chainsaw BAR FOR Stihl 3 8 063 Chain Sprocket Nose | eBay

Ching chong guaranteed Andrew. Looks like an awesome deal until you realise I could (and have) landed those bars here from China for about $20. Exact Oregon knock off - some even use exactly the same bar codes. To be honest they are actually good value for a part timer who doesn't use them very often. The average homeowner would be more than happy with these. Bar rail wear is definately worse than any major manufacturer's bars.

Betcha it's made in China, not the USA.
The steel may come from the US (and I highly doubt that too) but seeing as it looks like an Oregon knockoff there's a fair chance an Oregon nose will fit, or the better version was the German Carlton single rivet noses.
Which reminds me, I need to order a spare or two from the Mattster. :D

It could be a Qiri bar, or any number of Chinese Oregon fakes.

Oregon noses will fit for sure and definately Chinese (see attachment).

I don't think anyone makes bars in the US. Isn't the Oregon/Blount bar plant in Canada ? as is Cannon.

Pretty sure you're right Rickles.

Is there still any GB TI and Pro tops about. ?

Yeah there is mate. I have a GB Ti 6 footer on it's way for the mill. I was going to get a 7 footer for the mill but then realised that's just silly.
Talk to Benny mate - he'll be able to sort out what's available as he sees the GB rep regularly.

Is there really any difference in use between a Pro Top and CN40 bar ?

Both are good bars for sure but I've got Pro Tops here that just don't want to die. I've never noticed any difference in wear from a practical point of view but you certainly bloody notice when you try to drill the bastards :D

Protops and ti's

Yep both still available. They're pushing this new forest king bar now too that again coincidently uses the 'Oregon style' nose. In the bigger bars eg 30 & 36" they're great value but in the 25" they're going to be around the same as the protop when the go off special so I would stick with the protop or the jap tsumura, they're one nice looking bar and can be picked up cheaper too. Matt thinks they're a good thing so I can't argue with that!

The Tsumura's are bloody awesome in my not so humble but totally amateur user opinion.

The noses mightn't be quite as robust as the GB nose but overall they are exquisitely made/finished and the steel/hardness/toughness is right up there, if not the best from what I've heard from really hard users.

I just think they look purty :D

Oregon noses on bars made outside of Germany or Canada can mean only one thing 新 隸 體 新 隸 體 新 隸 體

Of course you can argue. This is arboristsite :)

It's a darn shame that we can really only get them in 20" and 24" in Australia.

Just fax or email Suehiro Seiko Co Ltd in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture and order a mixed job lot of 28-36" lightweight bars in large Husky mount, 0.058" gauge.

I even have their phone number if you'd like. ;)

You know you want to :D

If you had to pick which one and why,in 20'' 3/8 .063 Stihl mount.
Stihl ES
GB Ti or Pro Top
Tsumura

I'd buy the Stihl ES. Because then I could sell it on eBay to somebody with their Stihl blinders on and buy two Tsumuras :)

They have a significant minimum order quantity sadly.

Wife being romantic, sent her husband a text:

"If you are sleeping, send me your dreams. If you are laughing, send me
your smile. If you are eating, send me a bite. If you are drinking, send me
a sip. If you are crying, send me your tears. Love you."

Husband replied:

"I am in the toilet.
Please advise"
