Hey I had this comment from a guy last night on Youtube. Pretty funny :)

"I always went for as long a bar as practical then I moved to Oz, holy crap the wood can be hard here. If you'd asked me back in the UK if an 88 with a 30" .404 was a good combo I'd have laughed at you, I'm not laughing now as I've met dead gum :)"

Finally a sensible person commenting on youtube, someone buy the man a beer!

372 hybrid

Just finished rebuilding my 372 with a 272 piston and 390 carb, wanna find out where I can test her out? I live in Sydney and races around my area?
Cheers Dave

Dave, don't know if the Macarthur Chainsaw Racing Assoc. still exists ?

Neil or the BigFella will know, but generally you'd need to join an association and then do a couple of training days so they can assess you, (for safety) and the blokes will give you tips to help hone your technique and see how you go.

That way you get to play with your saw, see what a real race chain looks like and do it all safely. ;)

Hopefully Neil will be along soon to fill in the gaps.

Macarthur has disbanded years ago Rick, there is almost no racing out western Sydney these days, we do how ever do and odd run at Camden, but its a invitational usually every second year, but that too has stoped.
Now I have said that Keith has told me recently he is coming out of retirement, so just maybe it it start up again.

Thanks for all the info guys, I've been wanting to get into it for a few years but haven't found any leads until now.

Cheers Dave

Don't do it Dave, just don't, that racing stuff is bad for you, you will end up with heaps blown up saws, travel to all points of the state and cross borders just to get another race meeting in, then eventually your wimmen and chainsws will be alike, fast and full of alcohol :hmm3grin2orange:

but

it is fun, the blokes you meet are great, and it is a great revhead sport.

Been putting together a saw to do some diskstacking with, it is an under 77cc class, wanted another 372xp but haven't gotten a complete one yet.

Combined a Jred 2071, Husq 372, and some ching-a-ling copy bits and ended up with this
attachment.php

Also added a full wrap handlebar and a BB kit from Matt (bar, chain, starter and chainbreak cover also from Matt) Just got it back together and have had a few cuts with it, happy with it, cuts strong, would like to get a few tanks through it before this weekend, but ah stuff it, will just race it and see what happens. It won't win a purty saw contest, but it does cut fast  no shelf queens in my camp

Haha it does sound abit bad!!! But I do like my women fast and my saws 2

He'd probably lose his dealership if Stihl found out he bought a Dolmar :)

I have have used other saws too! Husky 340/345 268 575xp and my old mans even got a 3120xp, Matts dolmar 7900 which is an awesome saw and my old mccullochs as well but the only one that felt any where near natural to me was the 7900.... All this talk of 7900's might put on back on the list :) for what I do being fire wood mainly and yard maintainence business on the side what I have suits me well. If I was felling like Matt said the 7900 and 390 are better balanced but then I believe Matt has also mentioned he would run the 660 for fire would purely for the clutch whistle :msp_razz: I mean HD2 filter set up sorry

Was thinking of getting a 7900 after running matts but.....then I bought a Stihl contra lighting G and late 090 AV to go with the other 1106 series saws :)

I'm always happy when you post something as it takes me 35 minutes to read all the saw models in your sig :D

Just think - you can sell your 090G and get Brad to build you two ported and pop upped 7900's. Then you can bolt them both together like Neil and go ape sh*t.

No no no Will, that can not run south of the fence,,,, tie straps are a direct violation of the rules and is there fore unexceptable.
Other than that,,, bitsa's can be interesting toys if built by racers for racers.
After all its what's inside that counts, only shelfy's need to be pretty.
