Yes, like my "undeliverable" total bars from Randy.......

Not happy, but nothing can be done is all Aus Post have to say as they were returned to sender.

And now, likely to be heading out to cut this weekend, so local saw shop is gunna rip me off blind if I want more than the 24" bar I have now. :msp_sad:

Why couldn't the bars be delivered?

What length bars do you need and are they to fit your 576? If so let me know and I might be able to send you one of my Tsumuras till you work out what's gone on. I have a 28" 3/8" .050" and a couple of 32" 3/8" .063" here. I have a swag of other bars in Husky mount here. If desperate I'm sure we can work something out. I'm more than happy to send you one of the bars I've been using if you need a long bar.

they'd smash the arse off of our postal service.
Granted, we are Kiwi's but even our state postal/courier service kicks AusPost. I can get stuff to Aus for about 1/2 what it costs to get the same stuff from Aus to here, and I've never had anything go missing...yet.

Also, you mentioned a 28" .050 Tsumura? Can I ask what saw/s you run that on and have you ever broken any chain? I ask because I'm wondering if my 7900 could be set up with a low pro option without snapping chain or constantly pulling links out, because I'm loving low pro but don't use it on the 7900 for fear it might overpower such a chain.

Hi Matt

Thanks for the offer.

I reckon I can get by just fine with 24" and below. I have till now, but my mate who is now in WA was helping drop and buck as well and he was running a 066 with 30" bar.

As for why it is undeliverable, no idea. All the could say on the phone was it was undeliverable, maybe the address had come off. However I'm sure that wasn't the issue though?

If you do a bit of a search you'll find 3/8 and 3/8lp are actually different in pitch. 3/8lp will start to up back over the sprocket as its closer to .370 or less from memory. There's a big thread about 3/8 not actually being .375 too

Benny covered it above but you can't run 3/8"LP on a standard 3/8" nose sprocket. She no worky.
The Tsumura bar is mentioned because it is standard 3/8" (not LP) which is an unusual guage in Australia but very common in the US. Pretty well the only saws I've seen lately running that guage on standard 3/8" chain in Australia are newer Echos. I know they are a Jap made reliable saw but I had a look at a new Echo 6000(?) the other week and the plastics and finish made it look like a cheaply made Chinese saw.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that anybody raving about these newer Echos haven't run too many other saws. They are nothing to rave about.
As far as a 7900 overpowering LP chain it is actually pretty tough chain.

Thanks for that. I had intended to mod the sprocket if it meant I could run LP without fear of breaking or constantly stretching it. I should have made that clear, sorry.

Essentially, I'm keen to learn how well it holds up on 80cc saws, now that I know there are actually .050 gauge Tsumuras out there in 25"+ lengths.

It's a shame PPG is no longer here otherwise you'd be getting a booty call from across the Tasman :D

project 660

well i finally picked up my ebay saw project.
a seized up 660 due to straight petrol being used. was told saw is roughly 20 hrs running time on it. i think they got the "roughly" bit rite. looks like its been rolling around in the back of the ute for the past 6 years.
bore looks good but the piston doesnt.. can pull the cord ok. new bar and chain b4 last use apparently .. well the burnt the crap out of the bar!!
i checked the lube and it was on max.. but judging by the looks of the condition of it i think it has been a very neglected saw.
let the fun begin!!

Sweet! Give that bad boy a clean up and knock the top off so as we can have a gander at the innards. The cylinder might have a chance, small chance but you never know.

What were you think for replacement P&C... OEM or aftermarket?

future plan? well Matt has offered to get good parts when needed:msp_thumbup: and might even get the new jug ported etc :msp_w00t:
