Dear International Viewers

Please be advised that despite how it may appear from this thread, Aussies do actually complete plenty of work during normal business hours. Please further note I'm posting while on my only (and just 5 mins at that) work break in my 12 hr day. Thank you, good night, and Dog Bless.

Define "Normal business hours". I'm curious.

9-5, Mo-Fr with a 1hr lunch break and 2 x 15 min smokos and one household could afford to have one parent at home looking after the kids.

Does anyone remember those days? Buggered if I know where they went. Right now, I'd settle for getting back into the bush rather than the 70hr head-flucking weeks I am doing on the 'puter so I can afford to throw $ down the bush gear pit that swallowed my last two Summers. The closer I get to climbing out of the forestry gear funding abyss, the more I want to jump back in. I think there's a psychiatric name for the condition but the choice then becomes paying for treatment or a new chainsaw bar, so the shrink will have to wait until I run out of trees.

The other one to consider for the Patrol is the TJM Pro-Locker (nee Jack Mc)
It's a nicer/stronger locker than the ARB IMO but the price we pay here for both is :dizzy: when you see what they pay in the US for something made/assembled here. :msp_rolleyes:

Which I/C Al ?

Yeah considering the Pro locker or the E locker. Yeah I've noticed the price difference over the years. I bought my Richmond Gear auto locker from the States many years ago at a fraction back when they made them. The Landcruiser auto front was $235 at the time! :msp_w00t:

what did u do with the headlights? HID's? nice turbo. they go great with those i hear.
are you that unhappy with the LSD rear? i love mine. i know they are the best off road, but on road i couldn't live a single spinner.
the Eaton E lockers are the way to go. but if u have air locker up front, would u keep air locker for rear too?

Vince they have been HID'd for some years now. I updated to the series 3 clear headlights and indicators. Wow, what a difference! I fitted some LED light bars to fill what the headlights and HID'd Cibie's don't cover. I do alot of work as far south as Aberfeldy so need good light.

The shimmed diff was great but doesn't work like it used to.

Air flow through the standard inlet and duct is crap though and can be hugely improved.

ARE in Qld do a (supposedly) vastly improved scoop and duct.

I like the look of a Laminova setup, anyone have any data one them ?

Rick I have 4 Laminova cores here but no one can get ahold of Matt McInnes these days. I was hoping someone would be able to get ahold of his plans to take it all over but no luck there either. I was going to run the condenser behind the cab. So in the meantime I'm running with the Cross Country.

another idea to spend more money... 4" snorkel from Milweld in Mansfield. can get a 3L air box lid or a billet one machined up for better flow.
type in laminova into the search function on the patrol forum. the w2a i have is a laminova.:msp_thumbup:

Yeah I pass Milweld every week. I must drop in and check it out sometime.

Andrew at trik fab welded them up. He may know what u want.
I can ask around and see if I can get a hold of Matt if u want.
If u got HID's then the next step is to put projector lens in them awesome focused beam on the road and no poor blind people coming towards you.

So the Series III h/lights are much better ?

The Series I are CRAP, miles too much dispersion.

Been running +50 globes in them for years, but poor SWMBO relies on the Super Oscars on HB and is then as blind as a bat when dropping back to low beam.

Rick, the light isn't thrown all over the place. My low beams are now where they should be. High beams? With the accessory light I have it doesn't matter! I haven't checked them on their own but a mate is happy with his. :msp_thumbup:

BTW, you need the indicator assy that matches those headlights as well.

Yes, I remember Andrew doing the the fab work. Very neat/awesome welder.

Yeah Vince, put some feelers out mate and see if anyone is doing further work with these. I suppose if someone was you'd be hearing about it across forums but you never know.

Thanks mate.

I've only just learnt about these projectors recently. They look the goods. What globes do they run Vince? Still the H4's?

Yup ok will ask around.

They are D2S. Different kettle of fish.
If u go to the patrol forum and scroll down near the bottom to vendors and look for a section Micks HID projectors.
All info there.

hey all, just your casual friday night 3 month friendly reminder to recharge any li-ion or Ni-MH batteries you may have that get little use. They do not store for long periods. They dont need to be totally flat and do not need to be fully charged, say 70% is fine.

If Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer batteries go below a certain voltage they are cactus for good. Ni-MH can get completely discharged and recover but no cigar for the Lithium types. Hence the low voltage cut out on most Li-Po/Li-Ion tools.

Just did all the GoPro batteries. Bought a new battery for an older but good lappy for the missus and it's twice the capacity of the standard. When It arrived it's twice the size, lol and now it's a lappy with hefty appendage! :msp_w00t:

Andrew at trik fab - surname Williams?

If so knew of him through4wd online circles about 10 years back now :msp_w00t:

He was a gun tig welder of inter coolers and alloy stuff then.

Interesting to read about the GU upgrades as I'm
Of two minds to keep mine and sort it out, after 12 years of ownership, etc or just get something else (new) soonish?

Like I don't play hard offroad like I used to, so a ranger wildtrak would do..... Don't need live axless, trick chromoly suspension, but I'd want lockers again (trying to pull a couple of ton of tandem trailer and wood up an icy, snowy switchback was "interesting" last Sunday.

Did need 4wd, front locked and a heavy right boot.....
