I'd go the Sako mate. If you are buying a Remington make sure you can access a borescope to check the barrel. Remington barrels are either mickey mouse or crap. There doesn't seem to be any in the middle unfortunately. For 4k though you could buy a cheaper Remington and trick it out pretty well through a decent gunsmith (if you could be bothered?). Nothing wrong with the actions at all but there consistency is all over the shop. Darren got a good one and obviously knows how to load and shoot but if you get a bad one you'll regret it big time and there are plenty of bad ones around. My 700BDL-DM shoots well now but only after a new barrel, bedding and floating, and a trigger job. Out of the box it was a waste of space. The factory barrel was a disaster.
If you don't plan on customising anything in the future I'd go a Sako anyday as they all shoot well and I've heard of very few problems. They did have a recall a while back on the fluted barrels in .300 Winchester Magnum only (I think?) but all fixed. Don't spend anything under a grand on a scope - there are some reasonable cheaper scopes but putting a cheap scope on a $2k+ rifle is like putting retreads on a Ferrari. In saying that thought the Bushnell Elites are a cracker scope and they are under a grand. They used to be called Bausch & Lomb - I own a 4-16 x 50 Elite 4000 and it's optics and tracking are as good as any scope I've looked through including Leupolds, Schmidt & Bender, Kahles etc. They run Jap made lenses just like the Leupolds.
If you get a Sako make sure you get the Optilok mounts - they are spendy but awesome.

As far as Raytrade and Remingtons go you may as well not have a warranty. Unless it's something terminal they sure as hell won't honour it if something goes wrong.

Hey Chris (rogue60).
Send me an email mate. Somehow you locked your message (conversation) with me and I can't reply.
I started a new conversation with you and it told me I am unable to start one with you so email me instead to the email address in my sig.

kaine do you want a long range gun or a hunting lite weight
Long range mate , weights not a issue ...the Sako weights more than the XCR .

no bore scope when purchasing new from a shop i wouldn't think? would be nice tho ... yeah i here you on the BDL, though the 700XCR has the better trigger than the BDL's and has full alloy bedding as standard, it is one of Remington's high end 700 models .. its the same price as the Sako 85 ! (both over $2000 new) my main reason for the 700 is the bullet proof simple push feed action which i like its simplicity , and which are good for building from, which i may do in the future ?
with the warranty i think there mostly bullchit anyway, if you want any warranty work done its a likely ship them back to US, or finland and fuc that .. lol . I live down the far south coast of NSW, 4 hour drive just to hit Sydney, once bought it'll be staying put
