I hear the new MS362 Stihl kicks the pants off of the MS361.........But some wont agree with that either.........:D:D

Don't need a 60cc pissing contest either. :)

But...........on that note for the same price (new) the 2171 kicks the crap out of any 60cc saw.

As THALL said, such cutting isn't the intended use of a 50cc saw!

and what is the great seller, MS290 (56cc but can't hang with either of the aforementioned ) intended for?....Sold here in the States with usually an 18 or 20" bar and marketed as a firewood saw "FarmBoss"

Homeowners everywhere maxing out those bars to heat their house.....So to claim that 50cc saws are only intended to be used to dance in the tree tops isn't flying with me. :buttkick:

The 5100 is listed to run 16-20" bar length.

So proclaim "better" all you want.......The 5100 is still the King in the block, where firewood cutters spend most of their time, except in Norway of course. :angrysoapbox:

As some have pointed out If you only need a limbing saw a Poulan NE Wildthing will fit the bill at $80.00 refurbished.......
Or a dolly 420 for a little more!

I see no reason for using underpowered saws for limbing, as that is the cutting that consumes the most time in the woods anyway - at least here...:ices_rofl:

Both the 346xp and the MS361 are better limbing saws than the 5100S, so it falls on its face - inbetween in weight, but the 361 actually handles better, has a lot better trigger responce (at least my Euro one), and of course cuts a lot faster..........

I believe after owning and cutting with and against most of the 50 cc. saws since 1975 that the dolmar 5100 and the improved 5105 are the best 50 cc saws ever.:buttkick:

BD,

I'm sure it's the best FOR YOU. And, that's as it should be. YOU buy what's best FOR YOU. But, your best may not be everyone's best.

Cheers,
