What's your opinion on the Stihl flippy caps

I bought both my 'flippy cap' Stihls from a Stihl dealer in Minn.
He shipped both saws with the bar oil still in the tank.
When they arrived, it was like they had been sprayed with bar oil.
After checking, the 192t was the culprit...but cap seemed to work fine.
Called and dealer said I wasn't closing it right...told him...yes, I was.
Cleaned cap real good in varsol and checked o-ring...still leaked.
Dealer sent me a new cap at his expense...replaced and no leak.
Checked old cap and under light and magnifying glass found there was a small crack on top part of cap under the flip base. Thanked dealer and he said it sure wasn't leaking when he sent it and he packed 'em really well so we'll never know how the crack occurred. They're $10 here and dealer sells a lot of 'em.

For all you naysayers, looks like you just need to learn how to use them. Majority rules, right:) Just messin' whicha:cheers:

I learned the hard way how to use them...an oil dump on your trousers is not funny. With almost 50% of people that do not like them caps, I wonder if the Stihl crew in Germany is calling it a succes really.

See what Herby thinks of the flippy cap design ....:hmm3grin2orange:

LOL, hilarious. Good stuff. Now lets see who he's really laffing at. Ya got 283 votes total. Stihl sold around 7 million units last year, ut oh, let me watch that again, :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I knew you would like that one !!! I think it's freakin hilarious indeed...LOL.

Numbers are not going to save ya on this one, Mr Hall. AS is only a fraction of the saw user world, I know, but if the pro's don't like it that much, I wonder if mister homeowner will...

I'll bury the cap slaying hatchet for now and watch that Herby vid again...laughing is good for the soul

Do we get one of them starry things under our name if we made it all the way through this thread?

i can settle this and debunk your logic just because more people voted pro flippy caps does not make them wonderful .would you not agree the majority could be wrong who voted those people into the white house the majority ,so i guess they are the better ones in there too huh?

Despite the loud protestation of the minority, I'd say we just ran a nice free market survey convincing stihl to keep the flippy caps, the minority just need some "re-education". I can see it now, Secret bulletin 3214 to Dealers, "How to convert the flippy cap naysayers".

Just back from the dealer with some new flippy caps to replace the leaky ones.

Looks like I voted with the minority.

How to convert flippy tank to screw tank would be better advised.

Best thing since sliced bread and silicone implants.:givebeer::clap:

For 3 --count 'em THREE --years and 2 Stihls, have had NO problem with them ( the Flippy Caps you know ). Leaks--none, EXCEPT when the opening and cap are not wiped clean of debris. You do know how to clean, don't you ?:monkey:

Besides, I can remove, fill, replace the caps with MITTENS. ( And, wipe them clean don't you know.)

And, I don't need no stinkin scrench to fill.:cheers:

It would be intersting to actually see if the voters that didnt like them where professional saw users or not. ( as in not homowner fire wood cutters)

that's what i was thinking state what you do and for how long whats your experience i been cutting 35 years average 200 cords a year and i can tell flippy skippy caps are not as strong or dependable as the old style.
