Hello I have a lincoln dc 225 3as welder with a onan cck-s 797g engine that doesn't start. It is sparking a lot across the points. It did start one time after I changed condensor and touched points with a screwdriver. Thanks

The points are not excellent but I've started engines with worse gap is set at 0.20

Spark is weak and intermittent .great compression and and it has gas at the plugs it ran for about 5 minutes an then the complete points box was sparking

It isn't the correct condensor just what I had on hand . It's for a kt 17 kohler . Didn't figure there would be a lot of difference in them

Condensers are rated in 'values', you will need one with the correct 'value', from memory the readings are in micro- fardes ?....Or something like that?

Condensers will and do break down internally through heat, vibration and time, causing discharge through the housing.... An old one can run ok for a few minuets until it warms up.

Ok. Any ideas one where I could find a parts list for it ?the old condensor is old and I can't read the numbers on it .

It would appear there's at least two different sets of points and condensers used in these engines, the change came at a certain engine serial number.

If you google search Onan cck-s 797g, you should find a owner/operators manual on PDF file.

Ignition sets (points & condenser) can be found on Ebay US.

I'm not having any luck on the manual can't find one that specifically says for a cck-s797g

Thanks . I ordered that and I'll see what happens when it arrives
