:agree2:

in my strange little world, that's accurate

i've run a 42" bar on both my jonsereds 930 and husky 2100 no problem . . .other than an overbalanced feeling

I agree to the original chart. Especially the first part of it. The bigger saws can pull longer bars. Especially 80cc can have more than 20".

Standard here on for example a 346XP NE is 13" Narrow Kerf...
To have 15" I think you need to step up to a 357 ..

Next time you come over to the states, you should go take a look at how saws are displayed at box stores and dealers. You'll laugh.

When I had my dealer order me a 13" NK bar for my 238, he admitted having never seen or heard of such a thing on any saw he had sold or repaired. The 238 came with a 16" bar from the factory, and the only other one I've ever seen in person had a 20" on it... :dizzy:

The good old 3cc/1" of bar rule seems to be much simpler to comprehend, and equally valid. No chart required, just some mental math.

I agree. And if you aren't worried about speed and/or are only cutting soft wood (or dead wood), then 2.5cc/1" of bar is adequate.

The math:

3cc/1"
14" = 42cc
16" = 48cc
18" = 54cc

2.5cc/1"
14" = 35cc
16" = 40cc
18" = 45cc

I myself would like to go to the 3cc/1" eventually, but for right now I run what I have. Notice the only saw I have that I've put a bar on is 36cc and got a 12" bar though :greenchainsaw:

Bar length depends on how close the tree is that you are needing to hide behind while cutting a dicey blowdown. :eek:

My chart would show that.

1 foot away--28" or better

2 feet away--etc. :)

True, but it really shouldn't be that way - .325NK doesn't do the NE346xp justice, it performs much better with LP or RSC chain.....:censored:
