Depends on how much you spent and how badly you want the saw I guess.

In my case for anything below $500.00 the easiest and cheapest for me is to cancell everything, recuperate my money while I can and move on with my life. Another saw or better deal will come along in time.

Give it a a least a week before doing anything. 100% feedback is a good indicator that they don't collect and run. I don't think it matters if the person has sold chainsaws before, a product is a product. I have had some items take as long as 3 weeks to arrive.

Paid wiyh Paypal. Looks like I've got 30 days to file a claim. I'll wait 25, then I'm filing!

Sounds like you are thinking right TonyM. Good Luck with it. I can understand being frustrated with no returned calls. I had to file a claim on the 29th day. This has been 3 days ago. But it was not chainsaw related and the guy had 100% rating feedback. I dont mind giving someone a break but come on, a month.... No way.

The buyer always has the option of canceling their credit card.

You know pay pal will protect you from this, right? Pay Pal is hard to beat in my opinion, for the protections they offer to seller and buyers.

This seller appears to be a female (unless her significant other sold under her ebay registration). I did not see evidence of prior chainsaw sales. I'm wondering if it was shipped full of oil and it's sitting in some post office leaving a puddle on the floor. It was shipped USPS, which I absolutely hate for shipping saws.

I bought a ebay item last year which was shipped USPS from PA. to my update NY home. It took about 2 weeks! I was shocked but a call to USPS said that was within the norm. It depends on which USPS service was used, if it was plain old parcel post, that can be a slow boat from china and tracking is not available. Priority mail on the otherhand gets things completely across country in about 3 days.

I would give it another week, keep trying the phone # in the meantime. The 100% feedback is a good sign. The seller may have sold it, shipped it, and went on vacation for a couple weeks not knowing what is going on.

17 days, nothing.

I filed a claim with the post office for unreceived mail.

I sent an email to the seller stating that if they did not contact me with an explanation or I did not get the saw by 2/23/05, I was going to file a claim with Paypal for non-receipt of item, and I would leave negative feedback.

I noticed someone else bought an item from the same seller on the same day I did, and they have already left positive feedback for the seller.

I looked at the various items that the seller has bought and sold. Very strange to say the least. Started out as purses, perfume, and Hello Kitty items, and switched over to a man's wedding ring, a chainsaw, a nail puller, some old pad locks, and a old 1 ton dually dodge truck. Now I'm curious.

Tony,
I tried to buy a saw once on ebay. Good thing I used Paypal. I got my money back but it took longer than I expected. How about posting the guys username in the bad feedback thread?

I am purposely witholding the seller's username until I can hear his/her side of the story. If this all ends the same way it is currently going, I will definitely tell the username.

I think I figured it out. This was a relationship gone bad, and the female member decided to sell her significant other's perfectly good chainsaw just to create disharmony, and when the male member discovered this, probably used the saw to dispose of his problem, then chucked the evidence in the nearest lake. Now I have no saw and cannot get ahold of anyone. Hey, it makes perfect sense.

Tony, sorry to hear of your ebay problems, I hate seeing people scammed! I have bought and sold many items on ebay and luckily I have not been scammed yet... I did win a bid on a set of rims that was too cheap to be true, and spotted the scam before paying, and had the seller booted from ebay... My main warning to people bidding on ebay stuff : I DO not bid on items unless the shipping costs are stated, or unless I have time to contact the seller for a shipping quote first.... I bought a ' reman' belt sander once of ebay for like 20$ canadian, not a bad deal, but by the time the seller tacked a stupidly high ups shipping charge on top (the sander was from my same province, no border crossing etc...) it ended up costing me more money than if I had walked into Canadian tire and bought it when it frequenly pops up on sale.... I reluctantly followed through with the deal, only to protect my 100% feedback rating....

So that's my ebay warning.... Make sure you know how much for shipping BEFORE you bid.....

Thats BS, you shoulda had your saw by now. The only time I had anything even close to this on Ebay, the seller was on vacation near me, and had they known, and I as well, they could have delivered my item directly to me by hand. in the end they shipped it out, and I was happy.

paid for my pioneer last saturday, shipped on Monday received on Wednesday. All on Ebag! Screw the seller and hit paypal! Both of my Ebag saws came out of Wisconsin if that helps. :)

18 days is too long, Notify paypal now of your intention to dispute the cc charge! The seller will get an official looking notice from paypal. Also notify your cc now too. If you successfully get your money back thru your cc, it'll still take 3 months. Hit 'em now, if it works out, great and if not at least you got a jump on it and can cut down the time it takes to get your money back.

Just notify paypal of intent, but pursue your money through your cc.

Tony, I would suggest to go ahead and get the wheel rolling on this transaction. You can go to community on Ebay and click on Security and Resolution Center. You will need your item #. Then it will take you to pay pal. This process will take 10 days itself. So if you get the saw in that time frame, you can just click on resolve in Pay pal and its a done deal. But this is just a suggestion and it will get the wheels rolling to get your money back.
