I got my first saw in 1999, OK I am a younger than most people here i know. At that point i knew nothing about saws but i need to cut firewood. I could not afford to heat the house with anything but wood. I did not have the money for a good saw so i thought a 295 poulan would be a good saw. They sell those saws with a 20 inch bar and they have a 46cc motor. After about 2 hours of cutting the motor locked up. I could not believe it. I took it to lowes and got my money back. Then i got a used 550 Echo it has a 16 inch bar and it cuts, but it is heavy (ok it is not that heavy the 575 is more). Getting the used 550 saw instead of another 295 poulan was one of the smarter things i have ever done. I still use the 550, but the chain break is not working and I have not bothered to fix it.

Jonsered..... I fogot the model number but it had a heated handle and I think the bar was 18"... does 2210 sound like it?

I let my uncle borrow it to cut some fire wood.........he used the wrong gas, scored the cylinder, so I ended up trading it for a Husky 262 xp and a husky 35 along with $400 cash

my first saw was an 041 farmboss that would shake you to death if used constantly. It was given to me by my dad. Next new saw I bought was a 2083turbo.

I had used a few older 300 McCulloughs but they finally gave out due to ethanol blend gasoline in the magnesium tanks. In 1981I bought a new Jonsred 621 with 16" and 24" bars. In spite of year of abuse the saw still runs well and cuts firewood every year. Since then I have added a Jonsred 2050, a Stihl 036M, and inherited a little Olympic with the "T" handle. I find I use the 2050 more and more since it is light, but the 621 is still a hog. The Stihl is a screamer and really cuts wood too.

I used a couple of old McCullouch 300s until the ethanol in the gasoline destroyed the fuel tanks. I bought a Jonsred 621 in 1981 and have used it every year for cutting firewood, landscaping with railroad ties, etc. This saw has been a real workhorse and is usually the first saw I start with on a good wood cutting day. Since then I have added a Jonsred 2050 and a Stihl 036M, plus I inherited a little Olympik that is always ready to run but never gets used. The Stihl is a great saw, I just want to use up the old one first (it may never happen).

LOL. Does this count.
Back in the early seventies a 8" electric Remington Limb "N" Trim to cut some campfire wood.
That was followed by a 16" Electric Remington.
My first real saw was Stihl 038 AV Super.
This was followed by an 026.
Recently I purchased my only used saw which is a Stihl 066 Magnum.
Incidentally all saws are still owned by me and running well.

I bought a Poulan 2450 18" at HD in 1995 when some trees got knocked down in my yard by a heavy storm.
Never touched one before that day, and boy have I learned a LOT since then.

Still have that saw and it has cut many cords of wood for me since then. It is still running well.

I now have a camp with many oak and shaggy bark hickory trees. Will be buying a Stihl 280 next month for heavy work.

Poulan will retire to limbing work, that was the best $119 I have ever spent!!!

In 1976 an old Monkey Wards saw, It was made in the sixtys and cost me $45. Made for a warm winter and some bucks for grocerys that year. I soon teamed it up with a Wizard which was a small poulan. Now a days that isn't much, but they fed the family and kept us warm on the Kansas flat lands.;)

The first that was bought for me was a Homelite POS. I spent more time trying to start it than cutting with it. When it did start, it would not run for very long before having to go to the shop for repairs. After a year, I gave up and started using one of those old fashioned zero emission saws and actually cut more wood in less time than with the homelite. The second saw that was bought for me was a husky 50. Good Lord what a difference! Wasn't the fastest cutter, but held its own and the only time it was not running, I was refilling the oil and gas. The frustration was gone.
When I finally forked over my own cash for a saw, I rewarded husky with some loyalty and bought a 266xp. After about five years later, I wanted something with a bit more power and a better air filter. Husky answered with a 272xp, which I kept untill last year when I traded it in for the 372xp.

First new saw was a Pioneer P-39 w/ a 16" bar. It still runs perfect. But I just bought a new Husqvarna 365 Special and the P-39 just goes up into the woods for a ride lately. Its good to have a backup saw.

Yep, we had various homeowner crap when I was a kid. Work on it all day Friday to cut wood on Saturday. I think we bought a lot of cut wood at that time. I think even burned through some slabs with a dull electric crapsman.

Later when we bought some untamed acres, Dad sprung for the 024 AV Super. Talk about high cotton--I'd NEVER seen a saw start one-pull (hot of course), or run for more than 3 minutes at a time!!!

18-odd years later the 024 got squirrely (no offense) and after messing with it a couple of times, I gave up and bought a 2145--My first new one.

The 2145 got stolen. I bought a 2150. The 2145 was recovered--but ruined. So I had it rebuilt--$$$. Both of those saws have been great. A little slow on the cold start, the 2150 dribbles bar oil, but they run and cut great.

NOW that I've found this site, I'm all fired up to get the 024 running again (as yall might have noticed) and I'm hunting big jugs to drive a mill. 2077 in the works!

I started my chainsaw life with a stihl 031 and it was a piece of junk. Replaced it with a 041 in 1980. Still have it but got to heavy for me. Got a 026 in 1990 and it has cut nearly 100% of the wood I heat 99% with since. Got a used but rebuilt 044 this year for the bigger stuff but havent used it much yet.

Poulan 2150 or some such. It's still in a 5-gallon bucket post a55-kicking. POS..

Then got MS290, then MS170 for limbing.

I was given a Homelite Super XL for my 18th birthday but the first saw I purchased in 91 was a Jonsered 2051. Its a screamer and its still going strong. Never had to do much to it. Been hooked on the Reds since then.:D

I'm another one that has never owned a new saw. First saw of my own was a Sthil 031AV next was a 520 Josered I bought from an old guy that lived down the road he bought it new, used it once and sold it at a garage sale for $25 still runs like a champ had some troubles withe the recoil but other than that it's been a good saw I just picked up a 026 that looks like it was used very little but it has been sitting for 3 years. he wants $150 for it but told me to pay him if and when it is running.

MAC335. Sorry. Hopeless saw that lasted about 60 seconds. I'm still chasing my money on that one.

At least I learnt my leason and bought a Stihl.
