You too? It was fun while it lasted but they thought I was crazy when I wanted to build bikeputtyknife.

You were crazy, it wasn't the bikeputtyknife project that got you booted out of there, it was all that blasphemous talk about scraping your bar groove out with a Stanley 123a that did it. Hell, they still talk about it to this day.

I got bored at the putty knife forum.

Gas, after Romeo got the boot and you left, the place has really gone downhill. Some of the newbs are using these cheap plastic imports for puttying, quite pathetic actually.

:D

I enjoy working on engines and I'm surrounded by National Forest. Busted chainsaws are cheap, storable, and once I've had fun fixng them they become one helluva tool. Add in the immediate gratification factors of noise, power, smoke, and destruction and they're a pretty decent substitute for heroine.

For me it is necessity. 15 ac of woods and a family that likes natural wood fireplaces are the reason I got more into it. Growing up in Michigan it was rare not to hear the growl of a chainsaw somewhere.

Well, I have been a motor head my entire life, no motor? no interest. I have always like to run a well tuned saw with a sharp chain, cant realy pin it down any closer than that other than the other good things about saws are they smoke, they are loud and they cut down trees, all of which PO's the tree hugger crowd and makes them all the better for me:cheers:

One of my granddads was a logger and timber floater, and my father in law had woods lots - and both he and we needed firewood......:greenchainsaw:

Witchy used chainsaws a long time before I did.

I dont like chainsaws infact i hate them dirty smelly dangerous things that pump out obnoxious fumes......but if your spending 8 10 hours a day with one you want the best that does the job the most eficiently and i can apreciate it for what it is then.

LMAO x100 !!

As for me...it's just another form of gasoline engine fun. Already done the Briggs & Stratton engines, etc. Beyond that I appreciate quality and the pros we have here have a lot to say about what is and is not worth a damn when it comes to saws and such! Of course, having this knowledge is gonna cost me a $hitload of money in the long term! :bang:

Now, repeat after me one hundred times, "It's ONLY money"

AS is where many come with questions and problems and end up staying for the on line sense of chainsaw brotherhood.
I came her for some advice, bought a saw from Lakeside53, and stayed for the people. I just cut wood for fires in the fireplace, and because it's fun and useful.
Man, chainsaws sure are alot cheaper than hotrodding cars and trucks!

This has turned into a "Most Excelent thread DUDE!!!' THANKS DAVE, THAT WAS GOOD!!!

I do Tree removal/trimming and firewood as a suplemental source of income. I also heat with wood, so in the winter, firewood sales is my main income. When I cut firewood thats an hour and half drive each way, I want to get there and come home ASAP!!!!

Chainsaws are what I do and the sound of that STIHL ripping through a log is like music to my ears.
