Joe that 360 I went threw recently really runs great. I have yet to have a chance to get it in wood though. I'll get some time one of these days.

Rick give me a honest opinion of it when you do get it into the wood. I had one, in great shape with tons of compression that I thought would be a really good cutter.

Lets just say it was only OK nothing like I thought it would be.

Interesting. So its about one pound heavier than my SXL and 1cc less displacement. It looks like the only advantage is an antivibe system and a higher no-load rpm. Well I'll be finding out soon enough.

I've owned both and would much rather have the SXL. It seemed my 360 never did cut right even though it sounded like it would. It is harder, to me anyway, to work on the 360 so I let it go recently. I still have the SXL.

Chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry... Throw my hat in the opposite court. Love SXLs and 360s, but between the two, I'll grab a 350/360 nine times outa ten before a SXL. The vibe is noticeably reduced and the exhaust isn't as harsh. Personally feel the cut is smoother, maybe because of where the power comes in. I agree a SXL feels gruntier on the bottom end, but that's about the only real plus I'd give.

Ain't personal opinion a wonderful thing! :D

Spuer EZ

Do all EZ and EZ Automatic's use the same carb kit? My very nice one is starting to die and I am assuming crap is getting in the carb. I have two others to resurrect and the carbs look identical but can anyone confirm?

360

Once in a while you get pleasantly surprised with an ebay saw. I have been lucky with 3 out of 4. This 360 is really nice. It is better looking than the pics I saw and has a ton of compression. It looks like I cant check the p&c thru the side of the muffler but, the way it pulls over I'm sure its good. As soon I I get my construction done Ill have a better look at it but I'm thinking fuel system and intake boot. And a good cleaning of course.

Thats a nice looking 360 Joe. They are easier to work on then they look. You have to take the muffler fully off to see the piston cause the exhaust port is on the bottom of the saw. Getting the fuel lines in that tank is a real PITA

Try the 'ole fishin line trick for the fuel and oil lines. Feed the lines from the outside -> in and use something like needle nose pliers or a bent wire to dig the fishin line out though the tank opening. Make sure ya use a good knot to tie the fishin' line to the fuel/oil lines.

IIRC, Homelite did use zama carbs on the last few Super E-Z saws (in the 1980s). I haven't seen any saws with them however. The zama looks different than the Walbro HDC that's on the lion's share of these saws. Check the carbs closely for markings. If you see "HDC" then you're set. Some of the Walbro's will say "Walbro" as well, while others will say "Homelite HDC" on the carb. They all take the K10-HDC carb kit. Dunno what kits the zama's take. If you see "Zama" on the carb(s), let us know...

Dan, are those 360s red or orange/red?

I've seen several Homelite 360's that were painted with the same orange-ish/red paint that the 450/550/650/750 Homelites (and the later SXL-AO's) were painted with. Joe's saw looks like it's wearing that paint. I've also seen a Homelite 360 that had a deep, almost blood-red shade of paint. Still had the factory decals, and didn't look like a repaint. I know the fellow that has that saw, and will try to snap a pic of his 'orange-red' and 'blood-red' 360's together. He also has a couple of XL925's painted that color too IIRC...:dizzy:

When I have trouble sleeping at night, I start thinking about cuttin' a huge grove of oaks with different saws. Usually start with a 410 or maybe a 550. Then, after felling the first tree, I'm usually asleep before even getting to the job of limbing it. Works better than countin' sheep! :) Thinking about saws is mysteriously relaxing for some reason.

I got the saw to fire up today. Put fresh mix in and within 4 pulls she was running. Sounds a bit lean to me, I'll adjust that and got from there.
Nope Steven, I had to pay for this one!
The camera flash throws it off, Its def red, just not as deep red as my SXLAO.

You are correct sir...All three of them have the same looking carb, I can read the HDC without pulling them apart.

No Zama crap on these :D
