Make it happen Jay. It will bring joy and happiness. It also still has "McCulloch" clearly spelled on the decals.

My SP-81 goes well with my PM700 and 10-10A BTW............and my birthday is in less than two days...

All three of us born within a few weeks....WOW! Aaron and I within a couple days...what is the deal with that? Here's to you Aaron and Jay:cheers:

SawGarage, whether I could have pried my fingers off that 81 for ya is a moot point now. The listing is down and I never heard a word back. Maybe that Heimann feller took a trip up to minny soda today?

Email sent to the seller, I just ain't completely sure I'll want to part with it if I do get it. But I'll let ya know if anything comes through on it.

:bang:  that hurts... but, somewhat understandable, I guess..

I'll remember that!! ;)

I had the same thing happen to me recently. A certain old Redwood Logger here told me he was gonna go pick up a Homelite 2100S from a CL seller. Asked me if I'd be interested in it as he mostly was after the big bar that came with it. Told him HELL YES I'd be interested (duh). Well......the Old Salt fell in love with the big piece of Red/Black Magnesium when he got it (as I knew he would) and decided to keep it afterall. I can't blame him (just like you couldn't blame Steve if he can't bring himself to part with that SP-81) and have told him so. Still stings a wee bit though...:jester:

Add RandyMac to the list. That Old Salt (and his twin brother Humboldt Red) tick the odometer over on Wednesday 7/13. We've got quite a crew here...

Speaking of SP 81s on eBay: SP81 PLUS!

Very nice indeed. Has the updated graphic on clutch cover, but no chain brake? Mine must be significantly older; only paid $25 .....

Saw that one (and an SP-81E that was on feebay recently). Mine looks a lot like that saw. Has the earlier decal on the AF cover (unlike the CL saw talked about above with the later decal). Mine also has a bit more paint on the clutch cover (which is the same non-CB style). It wears a 28" Super Pro roller nose bar now, but will soon be wearing the 32" Windsor Speed Tip sprocket nose that came with my PM700 (which will get a 24" sprocket nose). The roller nose is just too pretty/cool for everyday use. It will be cleaned up and stored for times when that saw goes to GTG's. It's waiting for a fuel line at the moment.

Crap! I just checked the CL listing for that SP-81. Ad was deleted by its author. Hope one of you guys got it....:msp_unsure:

That "Old Homelite" looks to be a Homelite 17 in really nice shape. Has a cool bar, and even has the extremely rare 'ashtray' starter cover intact. Those are almost never with the saws. Somebody should grab it.

That "little old Craftsman" is a Poulan XX (20) rebadged as a Craftsman 1.9. Great little saws, and kinda rare in that condition (at least what I can gather from the pics). Extremely light and handy, easy to start in the bucket or up the tree, and surprisingly strong for an old 30.5cc saw. The only pain in the butt part is that most of 'em (including mine) were sold with 1/4" chain. They take the same bars as the other small Poulans though, so you can change to 3/8" LP pretty easily if you get a 3/8" LP spur for the saw.

I have no connection to either seller, etc etc etc......

Here's model profiles for those two saws. Taken from Mike Acres' site:
