Looks like a nice one, but a wee bit spendy...

sachs dolmar 166 vintage chainsaw | eBay

Hard to judge what a good 166 is worth, as there are not enough of them to really create a "market price". Last one like that sold on Ebay for a similar price. I'll bet somebody will buy it.

Lee I would have made a video if I were you. A video of a saw running well adds value to the saw, as it assures the buyers that it runs right. Saw King has made a living doing this.

They're Oregon brand tips for the smaller bars found on older, consumer model saws from the 60's and early 70's.

The bars were usually 16" to 24" in length.

Here is a Oregon universal 25" with the 2.5 roller tip.

I would buy that. If the work is as stated it would be worth it to me. It's History.

He's not the only one or the first (;)) for that idea, but it is a very good idea. It seems to work for me. I haven't seen Rich do a cutting video in a while just the running on the workbench videos. Has anyone else noticed this?

You offered him more than what it sold for and he didn't accept? Makes no sense that he didn't have a reserve amount on it then.

This guy was local to me and has tried to sell if for at least a couple years. I think he started out wanting like $500 for it at first and then a year later I think my offer was $250 or so and he refused. When he is done paying ebay fees and bothers shipping it he would have came out just as well with my cash put in his hand.

I lose no sleep over that Sears saw but being NOS would have been good for display and coversations over a beer.

Once again proving the old adage about having a bird in the hand. Lots of guys get married to the idea that an item is worth so much more than it really is.

You're right about the condition, it would've made a nice display piece. Wonder who actually was the manufacture of it?
